Hello again
Who has the memory detection problem on this board please?(quantity installed)
I'm i the only one?
There's a "memory remap" feature on Asus board effectivly..Nothing on the Foxconn..
Still don't find the solution..Only get 2,75gb detected instead of 4gb..

I am also interesting in that.
For example i have found that 2x2GB needs no more additional nb voltage for
same clocks as 2x1GB for same PL (can be as low as with 2x1GB). But 4x1GB sure does, but i do not know how much more...

are you using XP SP2?
here is a quote from windows article that might help you:
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system...AE/PAEdrv.mspxPAE is supported only on 32-bit versions of the Windows operating system. 64-bit versions of Windows do not support PAE. For information about device driver and system requirements for 64-bit versions of Windows, see 64-bit System Design.
Although support for PAE memory is typically associated with support for more than 4 GB of RAM, PAE can be enabled on Windows XP SP2, Windows Server 2003, and later 32-bit versions of Windows to support hardware enforced Data Execution Prevention (DEP).
Operating System Support. The PAE kernel is not enabled by default for systems that can support more than 4 GB of RAM.
To boot the system and utilize PAE memory, the /PAE switch must be added to the corresponding entry in the Boot.ini file. If a problem should arise, Safe Mode may be used, which causes the system to boot using the normal kernel (support for only 4 GB of RAM) even if the /PAE switch is part of the Boot.ini file.
The PAE mode kernel requires an Intel Architecture processor, Pentium Pro or later, more than 4 GB of RAM, and Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Server 2003.
The PAE kernel can be enabled automatically without the /PAE switch present in the boot entry if the system has DEP enabled (/NOEXECUTE switch is present) or the system processor supports hardware-enforced DEP. Presence of the /NOEXECUTE switch on a system with a processor that supports hardware-enforced DEP implies the /PAE switch. If the system processor is capable of hardware-enforced DEP and the /NOEXECUTE switch is not present in the boot entry, Windows assumes /NOEXECUTE=optin by default and enables PAE mode. For more information, see the topic "Boot Options in a Boot.ini File" in the Windows DDK.
added a pic to show the PAE switch is active with it allowing up to 3.25gb of 4 gb's to be utilized with installed software.

Video card is stable, but that is not the point. The point is that unless you stress your entire system by various means, it is naive to say that one stress test or another will determine stability.I abide by the old saying, "Your hardware is only as stable as the software it is running."

That is the standard, you cant blame foxcoon for that.
They build and produce what the customer wants and pays for.
Yes I like your reviews mate.

Hm, Foxconn Mars... just one question: Can it hold a 65nm Quad@>4Ghz under SS that is running full load 24/7? That's a CPU that killed two IX38 by sheer current, and somehow I only trust the DFI to hold it in place. But I'll read Supershanks' article on the Mars, I'm sure it'll help me decide
About tRFC setting, I'm usually running 28 with 4x1GB D9GMH.. not a problem. I think you just need high tRFC with 8GB. I sucessfully tested 8GB reaperX 800 at 800 4-4-4 and 1,9V on the evga 680i with tRFC 42. However 850 wasn't even stable - higher tRFC might have helped, but I didn't know it then.![]()

That is just his sense of humor... He is still upset that I call him Pops. I tried standing my video card on the desk, it was not stable at all until I bent the bracket a little. It has been stable all afternoon and I have run over 6 hours of Linpack 64, Bejeweled 2, and Crysis concurrently without it falling over yet.![]()
p.s. We might get a new Pro BIOS this week...In regards to the MARS board, they have come a long way with it, the first time we looked at the board, it would not POST 2x2GB at all, now it is one of the better boards for 8GB usage.

I have an infiniband card in my primary PCE_E x16 slot(s)So i don't care much about
gaming stability and frankly don't know much.
All i want is that reviewers start using Linpack 64 on regular basis, and do this properly. As well as more thoroughly test stability then 8GB is installed. I have not built PCs with less than 8GB for 2 years already, but these were all dual-cpu machines. My first foray into modern desktop world was somewhat disappointing - not in performance, performance is great and far better than on any common server platform available today.
It's just common neglect of proper stability testing what pissing me off.

Proper stability testing according to who? You? Everything in life is a compromise. As Gary has already said the only proof of stability is the the 24/7 software that's used. And to be honest, Linpack is no better at showing stability then other commonly used software is. There is no one software that does this, period. And to use the phrase "common neglect" not only shows a lack of knowledge of this industry but is plain rude.

Glad you got that video card stable upright. Took me longer than that. I expect you are not fixing to instill anymore stable tests? I along with many are already pretty well satisfied with the tests that are done. No sense in adding another test to muddy the waters. If one needs his other tests done it would be better if they did their own testing and interpretting. No additional problems that way. Keep up the good work man. Pops...
Back and forth from board to board it seems.
if you don't care, why should bingo13 care...i know, a smart-arse statement..i am just trying to show that your approach to stability is very limited.
you need to make your case to all the head's of each review site. All i want is that reviewers start using Linpack 64 on regular basis, and do this properly.
good for you but 8gb is NOT mainstream for overclockers...we are just getting into 4gb as mainstream. As well as more thoroughly test stability then 8GB is installed. I have not built PCs with less than 8GB for 2 years already![]()
truthfully, you should not be getting pissed over stability testing...maybe it is personally frustrating at times to attain your overclock and stability goal...still...overclocking and benching for stability should mostly be a fun sport!but these were all dual-cpu machines. My first foray into modern desktop world was somewhat disappointing - not in performance, performance is great and far better than on any common server platform available today.
