Thanks for the post. The way I remember it did it ininially right after my initial OS install, so I do believe that it just might be a Maximus thing.
You never get any errors, it just isn't willing to take any orders for 90 seconds.
It would be nice to find a setting that would allow you to reduce this time delay.
I can tell you that when I was re-booting allot, messing with my BIOS settings, it worked my nerves real good.![]()

I'm running RTM too; indexing service is always going to do what it's designed for, so is superfetch. My WDs are noisy, so I notice these things.
Same here my WD's are always clacking away with Vista, I have search service disabled. I might trun off superfetch, hell I know where my files are I dont need Vista to keep track of them.
But I might format and run XP again ...cant decide
Hi guys.
I got my SE back from RMA (with burned chip on board). They realized that I had removed the heatsink and the shop redirected the board to asus and they repaired it anyway
Very lucky I guess.
Now I am thinking about what to do with the board. My current non-SE has that issue that it won`t boot anymore(and one day and 50 bootattempts after it suddenly boots like nothing happened) after making any bad setting in bios because of broken loading of defaults after OC/bad biossetting
But it is running at the moment and stable settings I found out last weeks are still stable, but changing sth. in bios and I must be afraid of the board and that it doesn`t boot anymore till next day or whenever it likes to.
hello , I have 2 raptors that I want to set up raid.
my question is do I have to load diver during installing windows vista. Before I set up raid on the P5W DH Deluxe I did not have to install driver.
If yes , I don't have a floopy disk to make the disk
I did tried to load the driver from the Maximus cd to the thumbdrive with no success, it says "unable to get disk information" any suggestion guys ? thanks

You dont need any drivers during Vista installation.
In BIOS just selesct RAID for your drives, reboot.
Watch for the Intel Matrix screen and hit ALT-I and setup your raid, reboot.
Put your Vista CD in your DVD drive and way you go, also make sure once you have setup your RAID that it's the first drive in your boot order, that is why youre getting the message "unable to get disk information" .

Another comment on the slow response after booting in to Vista. The "slowness" doesn't happen until I install the sound driver... so my guess is it's related to the onboard sound in some way.

Guys.... this is not a board issue, it's network drivers issue!!!
Asus doesn't have the last Realtek drivers on their support page...![]()
Install version 6.202 and your desktop delay is gone!![]()

I'm testing a P5E3 Dlx and had the same problem from the first time, installed Realtek 6.202 driver and everthing is fine!

Yeah I kinda noticed the red X on the network icon also, but I thaught it was due to the fact that Vista was busy doing something else and hadn't initialized the nic yet.
Installed the realtek drivers and rebooting...
Edit#1
Rebooted and rex X is still there and the delay is still there, cant open programs or folders for about 30-45 sec's after the OS has loaded.
Once the NIC's red X is gone everything starts working fine, there is alot of drive activity during this delay.
Gonna disable the second NIC in BIOS and see what gives.
Edit#2
I disabled and enabled the proper NIC's in BIOS and hooked up my cat5 cable to NIC port #1, it's the upper one, disabled NIC #2 and now after a couple of reboots my NIC initializes right away and I can now open programs and folders no more delay.
Edit#3
Wow this is weird I disabled NIC #1 in BIOS, hooked up my cat5 cable to NIC #1 and still have connection to the web?!?
Going to try the opposite becaus the delay was happening when I had my cat5 connected to NIC#2 and possibly had IT disabled in BIOS at the time.
Dont know if it's Vista or the board but net ttraffic is redirected to either working NIC independetly if it's disabled in BIOS.
