I did have it with my brand new Tracer's before I swapped them with my super talent, and now is all gone. What it causes I can't tell you also but it something with the RAM looks like.

There is no DDR2-1200 from JEDEC... so I'd think no one really supports more than 1066 officially. Might be wrong though, but who cares about official support anyways ^^

These settings are wPrime 1024M stable, but nowhere near stable enough for Prime95. I don't mind loosing some speed to gain stability, but nothing seems to be working yet. Remember, I am running 4 Dimms (8GB) or ram with this, and I really don't want to go back to 2. Also, I am getting some about 62* C on 2 cores when wPriming. Should I reseat the water block? That does seem a little high to me.

Well I'm no superstar & I don't even have this x38 board but I hate too see people struggling.

The few things I would do would be firstly fling out 4gb of RAM & leave the RAM 1:1 until you have an Orthos/Prime stable rig assuming you want Orthos/Prime stable rig.

You may want to try playing with the GTL's around 100 or so based on your 1.503v vtt x 0.67 = 100.

You may also try setting the GTL+ Buffer strength to weak with or without GTL's enabled (works for some)

Return the PCI-E clock to 100 (no need to tweak that until you are stable)

I may be off base a touch here but don't those G.Skills have a max of 2.1v & have over voltage protection onboard. I think they don't like over volting ask Praz he's your man for these sticks.

NB voltage may need to come up a bit imo (worth a shot)

I would also based on what I have heard (not experience) manually set trfc out to maybe 50~55 till you get stable. I hear/see they like it loose & I would bet the board is setting 30~40 maybe.

    62oC looks ok for 1.5v @ 3.7GHz imo

Hope some of this helps (ain't gona hurt to try)

C-N has some good recommendations...these are mine from what i remember when i had the board set up with a Q6600 and QX9650...these are by no means absolute settings...experiment from there (recommended settings in red next to your settings).

i wouldn't get wrapped around the axle with Prime95 for more than an hour...having Prime95 stable system is not an absolute guaranrtee that you are completely 100% stable in every condition.

There is no way in hell I'd recommend 1.8-2.0v PLL. Sure way to kill something.

Won't kill 65nm but 45nm may be a different story. But what PLL will do in that voltage range to any CPU is destroy max FSB. And it doesn't take long either. I've got several processors laying around here that has met this fate.

So what is a good setting for PLL then?

I am beginning to suspect my ram. I cant get it to pass memtest at 1000mhz anymore. Could my motherboard be overvolting the ram or is this g.skill stuff just ?

u shouldent run gskill over 2.10 unless u know that its micron hz, if u have powerchips or promos or qib stay below 2.10

also set the vid special add to something even the lowest setting

TBH I haven't heard of anyone that said it was s**t.

If you are failing memtest you are way out imo or something is broke.

I would go back to stock, start again & find something stable to work from before you lose it with the whole lot.

I cant get it running at stock CPU clocks with these speeds. I am getting Hardlocks in memtest. Is there anything motherboard related that could be fueling this? I am starting to get a little depressed over this.

I mentioned earlier that my board had what looked like cosmetic damage near some of the northbridge traces. If they were actually damaged, that would = no boot, not memory and stability issues, correct? I don't know, I am just trying to get this figured out in my head.

Go back to stock 266 x 9 1:1 on the ram, surely you can get that stable?

I wouldent start with 8GB of RAM either 2/4 maybe.

You cant start overclocking from un-stable, you have to find a datum line/ start point.

I haven't been using all 4 sticks since my instability issues in orthos because I figured that would remove some of the extra variables.

I will give you the 266x9 results shortly.

I am going to order some faster, 1gb ram modules and see if they help. If not, they will still be fun for benching later on. Please, if you have any ideas about what is wrong, let me know ASAP.

You're splitting hairs. Is this a desirable fate? max pll on 65nm is 1.5. Above 1.7 has been known to seriously "degrade" them. Anyway it should be about 88% of vcore.

What should be 88% of VCORE? PLL? The PLL voltage is spec'd at 1.50V +/- 5% for both 65 and 45nm processors regardless of VCORE.

    I think that's what I already wrote.

I said they'd kill them, you said they'd degrade them. Whatever. I think you proved my point anyway. But, I guess if they have a bunch of cpu's to lose to degradation like you, then by all means, they can throw as much voltage as they want into them. I don't recommend it though. :P

BTW, the 1.5 is absolute max.

Ah, the DFI spokesman has arrived!!!! :P

Maybe I'm missing something. The lowest setting I seem to have for Cpu PLL is 1.51v. How would I set it to 88% of 1.35v, which is my vcore?

You can't set it to 88% of 1.35V. 1.50 +/- 5% is the proper voltage according to Intel.
