Kondik: Is it like this one ?
    http://www.extremeoverclocking.com/r...SLI_IFX_3.html

If it is like this one You can use fo sure Thermalrights Ultra - 120 Extreme, Noctua NH-U12P or Zalman CNPS9700 LED.

With Copper Sytche Ninja, SI-128 + or SI-128 SE, I don't think that your memory modules will fit.

Nice, But if you didn't noticed, I get the same temps as you . and I don't use that IFX.
My bigest problem is the CPU temp, not the SB or NB. I'm waiting for a Q9450 to see what that CPU will be capable of.

Kondik: I think you should get the SLI one. With IFX it's hard to mount a big CPU cooler. You have to modify the heatpipes so that the heat spreader to come near the VGA card, and even then I'm not sure it will fit any of the coolers you want for the CPU.

    yup ... This one

    Is great ... VGA temp 39 - 43 Idle | 700 Core 1650 Shaders |

Thanks to it is hard to mount the South Bridge IFX Thermalright one scratches the another .. nothing serious but they're really tight .. one day they will get stuck and i won't be able to take the VGA out of the PCIe anymore

You have to make some mesurements to see how Thermalright HR-05 SLI will fit near VGA, It's very tricky what you want to do, but I think that with right air cooling you'll get good temps.
    Well. good luck.

Ok now, my 965p-ds3 died yesterday, i just can't get it to post anymore . Now i'm feeling i'd be better not going after value boards anymore since my ballistix and e6600 didn't clock well on that board. So.

Since i'm too lazy to read all 69 pages of this thread i wonder if you guys that bought it already would say it's recommendable (performance/gut-feeling-wise)? For now it would be the new home of my good old e6600, but i'll be putting a q6600 on it later this year and i wonder if it's really a good choice...

I'm more than happy with mine and would recommend to to anyone.
    3.6GHz 24/7 Q6600, 1066 memory 5.5.5.13 F7 BIOS.
My only doubt about buying it right now, is the X48 boards are likely to be out at any time.
Finding anywhere in the UK selling the X38DQ6 at the present time is near impossible.

    Okay, that sounds really positive.
About your thought concerning x48.. well, since it's my systems for everyday use i can't wait for it, i really need it _now_. And some stores here in germany are selling it for about 200€, so if ppl say it's a solid board, i think i'll buy it. But let's wait for some more reactions.. maybe someone found something to grouse about?

I think you'll probably end up with 50/50 on the positives to negatives.

I think that most negatives are coming from people pushing things to extreme which will always means problems are likely, and those who also have a weak point in the system such as cheap memory, or an area in the BIOS thats not set right.

I'd almost given up on this board until I found the ABCD timings selection in the memory section, since then what I thought was duff board has been better than anything else I've used before.

I agree with waiting for some more input though, as I am only 1 happy user out of many that are using it.

I can't agree more to that. I won't be pushing the board until it catches fire or something so i think i'll be on the safe side since many ppl seem to be happy with it. But while i'm at it i think i'll let my e6600 enjoy a lapping session. Until now i was to lazy because i have no idea how difficult it'll be to get the coollaboratory stuff off of the chip, i used it for the first time here (i usually went with ac3).

Okay now x38-dq6 sounds good, but what about maximus formula? Haven't used Asus in years, the last one went into my mom's pc and it's there for 5 years now i think...

The thing just can't boot with DDR1100+

TRD aways 1 number higher than GA-X38-DQ6 on same freq...and need a lot of vMCH to do what the DQ6 does...

    I'm sad.

TRD looser doesn't always translate to worse performance
can you tell us how the performance stacks up

booting at 550MHz+ is no easy task for a mobo but it shouldn't be that big an issue
    that's odd

Ooooookay, that makes you the second to recommend it.
But what makes me think is that crazy-cool-whatever-backplate. I wonder if it'll be possible to get this thing off the board for installing backplates like the one for the u120e...

There's a section in the manual outlining how to remove it.
