    Thumbs up [ComputerBase] ATI Radeon HD38xx (X2) BIOS-Editor

    ComputerBase released a Bios-Editor which allows to modify the bios of all HD38xx cards. You can edit BootUp Clocks, 2D Clocks, Low Power 3D Clocks, High Power 3D Clocks, UVD Clocks & of cause the VCores.

    dose it do the checksum as well, and is there anything on fan controll

    It does not do checksum it appears, and looks like no memory voltage adjustment. Will it work on the 2900 cards? If not, they should make it so it does. The bios layouts are almost identical.

    no checksum = pain in the ass, you still have to edit it manually with some hex editor to get it working.

    I wonder how many n00bs are gonna RMA their cards thinking it's dead after flashing an edited BIOS without the correct checksum

    Its does the checksum and the X2 flashes fine.

    I'd personally stick to DOS. And try a USB flash drive as a boot drive, works no problem.

    I can confirm it works like a charm with HD3870, with corrected checksum and Overdrive enabled

    Teach me how to make my USB flash drive bootable.
    My motherboard supports it, don't worry about that.

    I guess this means I should work harder to get the full BIOS Editor out.

    I tried the HP method once before, and I didn't have much luck, but I am sure it was my fault.

    Here is a screen shot of my current BIOS Editor. (Depressingly, no core or memory clock editing yet).

    Is this a good substitute for pencil vmods?
    For instance, can we push the vcore for higher values than default safely?

    Can we push 3870s to 1Ghz with proper cooling using just a modified bios?

    nope.

    1.324 is the highest the bioses go.
    I havent seen any that go any higher.

    I am hoping that with an unlocked and edited BIOS for 1.3V, and an Accelero S1 Rev 2 I can reach over 900Mhz. I will need this editor to make the changes needed.

    the PWM of the cards aren't built to deliver more than 1.3v juice, iirc. so only hard mod / pencil mod will get you higher.
