The Un-Official Q6600 Chest Pounding Proves Nothing Water Cooled Temp Thread!

I wanted to start a thread to give us water cooled members a place to brag about our low Q6600 temps.
Please report your ambient temp at the time of your testing.

My ASUS Maximus SE. My build thread for all the gory details is located here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=160606

System cooled on: WaterKegIII Xtreme, D-TEK FuZion CPU water block, D-TEK FuZion Nozzle Kit, D-TEK FuZion Pro Mount, EK-NB S-MAX Acetal Waterblock, Lapped CPU, SB heat sink Enzotech CNB-S1L, MX-2 used for my TIM on blocks, and AS Adhesive on the SB!

Ambient Temp at time of testing was 60°F or 15.5°C for all tests +/- 4°F.

My bone stock 2.4GHz Q6600 for a baseline set of numbers. Run time 35min.

    3.6GHz, 35 minutes into OCCT.

One shot at 3.7GHz , only minutes away from successfully finishing 1 hour of hard labor.

My normal old every day 3.8GHz temps, 1 full hour into Prime95:

My 3.9GHz temps only 20 skinny minutes into a short Barn Burner Run! ....

Note: I did do a 3.9GHz run for 45 minutes, and cores went up to 53°C.

honestly the thread would be much better without all the pics. i'd rather just see straight temps.

    Sounds good.

System pictures removed, but screen shots are required to get full temp credit.

    once again.

No 2 h2o systems are ever alike unless your cooling with the exact same eq with the exact length in tubing, with the exact bends cooling the exact cpu and hardware.

So you cant really compare 1 system to another. Hence why we are desperately polling martin all the blocks and eq so he can be a repository of data.

Meaning in setting up and performance of your h2o gear, its totally directed by YMMV depending on how well its looped up.

Ie. how many mounts.. how much head pressure... what fans... what voltage on fans... ambients taken... water temp... ect ect ect..

Personally I favor 1 hour, but in this format, what ever they wan't. The longer the better I supose for more bragging rights.
I would say the spirit of this thread is more toward temps than stability. I just want to be convinced you heated the chips up.
I do know given extended time temps will rise a few more °C than you might see at the hour mark.

But that rule is made in the spirit of testing, and recomendations to members. I believe that to be a needed standard in that case.

This is more about pride in ones system, and the water cooled temps they are currently enjoying in thier home environment.
I really didn't want to make this a scientific Q6600 temp grid thread, nor prove anything.
I just would like a spot to let us water cooled folks chirp up a bit about our low temps.

If the air cooled members come over for a visit, and we don't have any examples posted of what any water cooled members are getting for temps, how can we let the world know that water cooled boards have the potential to have super temps?

The Q6600 is a pretty common chip now too, and a heat thrower.

It's good for the business to let us brag.

    You can pick the format...
Add in any warnings you would like in the OP...
    I'm easy going...

I just changed the title to: 'The Un-Official Q6600 Chest Pounding Proves Nothing Water Cooled Temp Thread!'
That might help to clear things up some?

I wouldn't want to misslead the commoners to think they could hit my temps anyway..
The members that run their rig in a 60°F basement like me, are few and far in between I'm guessing?

All I ask is that your honest with whatever you post.

I am on Everest version 4.20.1227BETA and believe it to be very accurate with the Maximus SE.
I run Vista64, and don't want to disable my driver signing to run Coretemp.

None so far... My nVidia 8600GT is just on air. Will be getting a new card soon. Currently just CPU and NB blocks in my loop.

Taking advantage of this cold Ohio day, I cut Prime loose for an extended run using my 'new improved' normal every day 3.8GHz settings:

My 4 hour error free run using my 3.8GHz settings. Room temp was a brisk 55°F or 12.7°C:

I don't think I can get them that low, and 55°F is the coldest this basement ever gets!

Hoping to see more posts by others too...

Note: My Motherboard sensor is always 15°F above ambient on my rig.

Hey Talonman... I'm running Coretemp on Vista X64

I found this at the DriverHeaven forums.

Make sure before you start the actual "CoreTemp.exe", you run "coretemp-startup.bat"

    Hey there Talonman.

    My rig:

    Q6600@3.6Ghz (400x9) @ 1.40625 (in bios, real life... who knows )
    Maximus Formula
4GB OCZ 6400 Reaper EB @ 960Mhz (5\5\5\18)... need higher trfc on this board.
    8800GTS 512
    Auzen Prelude
Assortment of Raptors and other shiz......

My loop has just the cpu (unlapped) and gfx on it. A 50z for the pumpage, Fuzion with quad shizzle, an MCW60 and for some radiator action i went with an MCR320 and a Thermochill HE120 i got cheap off egay. I've also used copper elbows in the loop because i cant stand the kinkage in a mid-tower case (Lian-li PC60) using this lame tygon tubing i got. Temps improved with elbows by the way if you're interested, well for me anyway. Everything is internal.... boy was it a squeeze! Oh, except for my psu (HX620) sticking out the back..... lool.

With an ambient of around 24C, my temps when priming small fft's were exactly 60C on the hottest core down to 56C on the coolest (Coretemp). I noticed that it was easier to pass prime on small fft's rather than blend which needed a few extra notches on the vcore when it got to the 896K test. This rig is 6 hours prime (blend) stable. You'll have to take my word for it as there is just not enough hours in the day for me to sit there watching prime do....... well, not much really. I dont run my fans at full speed (yate loons, HL's and a scythe for the HE) so i could maybe shave a couple of degrees off but i like the quietness and i know i've got headroom for the summer.

I might take my cpu higher, i think its got some more left in her but for now it will do nicely, you can tell i dont like stability testing cant you. Once i deem my rig stable i prefere to game, make music, watch films and look at boobs. Prime and occt just dont have the visual impact to keep me glued to the screen for very long.

Anyways, there are my temps. I hope you likey, eh?

    Cheers

    Dan.

Thanks for the post Dan, and it sounds like you have quite a nice rig too...

I will have to wait until summer to see how bad my core temps will move when being run in a 65°F or 70°F room, insted of in my 60°F-ish room that I currently enjoy.

I am hoping that I can keep my 3.8GHz, and still have super temps all year round.

My advantage will be slipping away soon, but will say that even in the summer, my basemant keeps pritty darn cool.

Your temps are great, i wouldnt be afraid of hitting 60 on prime if i were you, real usage will not come close to the torture prime inflicts.

Go for at least 4Ghz bud, if your ambients are that low then you've got a way to go before you reach temps like mine, which i think is perfectly ok to be honest. With what i do on the pc i reckon if i took an average temp over time, it would probably be quite low.

Fire her up before the basement heats up!
