Copper is a fairly soft metal. The grooves appear to be from being mounted previously. Not a big deal if it's flat within the grooved area.

Spawne, do you think you can do a direct comparison with TRUE VS S1283?

Noo, Thermalright would never screw up any kind of heatsink mounting, or not lap the base perfectly flat

Caseking already has in their shop, but it seems it won't be in stock until the 4th of March

It looks very nice indeed, but a small performance tweak could have been nice

also spawne i saw your review very nice btw.. one thing i see all over the place is that there is no way this will do that closely to the true.. most say its around a mid line as far as temps go. i was considering this one can your tell me honestly this performed really that well? has it been tested again since to get the same type of results?? just curious not doubting your reviews at all just wondering if maybe you got a really nice unit compared to some others..

can this be used with a reg mounting plate or only with the pins? im thinking a mounting plate i have from a previous cooler with some nuts/bolts may help the mountng of it.. thanks again!!

It does fall in around mid line, when you mount it wrong , because of the fact that i rechecked my results 3 times, i had the opportunity to view and test the application of the thermal paste. I obtained the best results you see in the HS Showdown sticky because i used a line method for that particular sink. Why? Well because the base has those large grooves in it, it didnt allow the thermal paste to expand when using the dot method that alot of thermal paste companys recommend.

As far as using a backplate, Thermalrights LGA775 backplate kit, i will get you accurate results on that today.

Spawne32: I have placed order for Red scorpion. Are its mounting LGA775 push pins enough to tighten it or should I order Thermalright blackplate kit seperately to mount it.
