    3870X2 - LN2 pot mounting

The dual chipped 3870X2 presents some obstacles for those of us into extreme cooling.
Pictured below is my home made/semi-ghetto solution for mounting my two 'kayl' GPU pots onto the beast for some cooling action this long weekend.

Made from 3mm aluminium panel, left over from a case window mod (thanks Gary @ Uvnium).
All was made bare handed using garden variety hand tools and power tools.

Right now im typing on the system with no LN2, just to check mounting and it is really nice.
GPU's are idling at 40C and only very very slowly creeping up.

well to be honest, I can't see the pount of this mounting thing,
it's same boltholes as on 2900xt/3870, just use the regular mountingings+

    regards
    Tim

Some mounting kits wouldn't work, as the chips are relatively close to each other. The hold downs/backplates would overlap.

42mm spacing between holes, are you sure about that?
Not to mention the fact that my pots are the size of G80 IHS (45mm), meaning the faces themselves are larger than the holes needed to mount them.

    Anyway, thanks negative Nelly

You'd have to have a pretty beefy dewar to keep 6 pots going

    Thanks guys.
Darky, see the hole i put near the top for the Pulse chip? Well there needs to also be a hole i think just above that for two very hot little chips.
