Iv just lost 1 of mine tracer 6400 at 2.3v with a Corsair Dominator fan on it.
    I was running Orthos at 1070 555-12.
    Right now i got 1Gb tracer and 1Gb G.Skill HZ and i get 1040 444-12 with 2.25.
My tracers didnt make 1000 with 2.25.

I'll send both to rma but first things first and the carnival has just begun here in Brazil , and i have another Ballistix PC6400 non tracer.

    My other PC6400 did 500 444-12 at 2.25 but wonnt make 533.

Alright guys, something's wrong with the LED blinking speed of the Tracer 8500 modules I bought a couple months back (2x 2GB kits - 4 modules). Whenever I set the modules to run at 800MHz (5-5-5-15 or 4-4-4-12) between 1.8 - 2.2v, the LED lights will behave normally and blink accordingly to memory load. However, if I run the modules at the 1066MHz rated speed (5-5-5-15 at 2.2v) or basically any speed above 900MHz or so, the LEDs on the modules will hardly blink at all during Windows bootup and will only blink occasionally during full memory load (and I mean one LED at a time slow as molasses). Are the modules intended to run this way? It doesn't seem right that they aren't blinking properly at the rated speed. I have tried them on two different motherboards and have tried tuning MCH, ICH, AND ICH10 voltages but nothing changes. I also just got my brand new RMA'd Abit IP35 Pro v1.1 the other day, so I can't really believe the motherboard is the problem. Please let me know what can be done. Thanks in advance.

I've done memtest several times and there's no problems. I'm concerned about the lights because aren't they supposed to resemble the access speed to each of the individual memory chips?

I've just received a package of 2 BL12864AA1065.8FE5, is it really different from BL12864AA1065.16fd3? Has anyone overclocked a 8FE5 yet? mykemyk2006 has me worried that this isn't the same kit as all the great overclocking results.

Do you cool your ram if running at the "stock" volts for pc 8500, or know if that helps longetivity?

My corsair xms2 pc8500 RAM gives tons of errors on memtest now after just 6 months of use, and my rig is unstable. I actually ran them undervolted by bios to 2.15v, though speedfan read it as 2.2v. (errors on any settings/volts now)

I am RMAing those as backup pair, have crucial ballistix pc8500 due on monday/tuesday.

Wondering now if I should get some cooling, and if so what do you use? Do they sell the dominator fans separately or anything else?

AFAIK his problem was matching two kits with different revisions. I dont know though if OC-ability is different too but running two sets with different revisions can decrease things quite fast.

2.4v is too much for MOST D9 pcb. All will eventually fail at 2.4v

odd, i have been hearing nothing but bad things about the newer revision, from high failure rates, to low bandwith and even heard they are single sided!

I need some help deciding on getting ether the 8500 or 6400. I don't care about benching and don't need the tight timings (though they would be nice). I just need some ran that will run with my E6300. I have it at 3.5ghz right now so that puts my FSB around 500 so DDR2-1066 range. I need them to not hold my cpu back.

I have heard the 6400 are just lower binned 8500. Will the 6400's clock high enough for me or should I go with the 8500's to be safe.

Need an answer soon please, I need to get ride of my patriots

    Thanks in advance

I haven't been anywhere near that lucky, but I haven't ruled out my board as the problem yet.

Actually, I've heard the opposite (after I purchased the 8500) that the 6400 typically are hitting higher speeds than the 8500 and the 6400 are higher binned. I would keep the Patriot, order the 6400 from Newegg and if you don't like what they do, RMA them within 30 days for a pair of the 8500.
