Alright I started overclocking today and tried to use similar settings that I've seen thus far. I started with a 3.2GHz overclock. Didn't mess with the memory settings yet at all until I figure out my CPU clock. Here are the settings I used if I recall:

    Extreme Tweaker
    Ai Overclock Tuner : Manual
OC From CPU Level Up : AUTO
    CPU Ratio Control : Manual
    - Ratio CMOS Setting : 9
    FSB Frequency : 355
FSB Strap to North Bridge : AUTO
    PCI-E Frequency: 100
    DRAM Frequency: DDR2- AUTO
    DRAM Command Rate : AUTO
    DRAM Timing Control: AUTO
    CAS# Latency : AUTO
    RAS# to CAS# Delay : AUTO
    RAS# Precharge : AUTO
    RAS# ActivateTime : AUTO
    RAS# to RAS# Delay : AUTO
Row Refresh Cycle Time : AUTO
    Write Recovery Time : AUTO
Read to Precharge Time : AUTO

Read to Write Delay (S/D) : AUTO
Write to Read Delay (S) : AUTO
Write to Read Delay (D) : AUTO
Read to Read Delay (S) : AUTO
Read to Read Delay (D) : AUTO
Write to Write Delay (S) : AUTO
Write to Write Delay (D) : AUTO
    DRAM Static Read Control: AUTO
    Ai Clock Twister : AUTO
    Transaction Booster : AUTO

    CPU Voltage : 1.35 / CPU-Z 1.328
    CPU PLL Voltage : AUTO
    North Bridge Voltage : 1.39 / EVEREST 1.41
    DRAM Voltage : 2.00 / EVEREST 2.08
FSB Termination Voltage : Forget exactly what I used. EVEREST 1.34
    South Bridge Voltage : 1.05
    Loadline Calibration : ENABLED
    CPU GTL Reference : 0.63
North Bridge GTL Reference : 0.67
    DDR2 Channel A REF Voltage : AUTO
    DDR2 Channel B REF Voltage : AUTO
DDR2 Controller REF Voltage : AUTO
    SB 1.5V Voltage : 1.5

NB LED Selection : NB Volt
SB LED Selection : SB Volt
CPU LED Selection : CPU VOlt
    Voltiminder LED :

    CPU Spread Spectrum : Disabled
    PCIE Spread Spectrum : Disabled

    Advanced CPU Configuration
    CPU Ratio Control : Manual
    - Ratio CMOS Setting : 9
    C1E Suppport : Disabled
    CPU TM Function : Disabled
    Vanderpool Technology : Disabled
    Execute Disable Bit : Disabled
Max CPUID Value Limit : Disabled

    USB Configuration
    USB Functions: Enabled
    Legacy USB Support : Enabled

Now I'm not sure if there is an exact way to test stability, so the first thing I ran was OCCT 30 Min and it passed just fine. Attached to this post is a picture of the full load temps which I think are a little high, especially on the first 2 cores, but thats probably due to the concavity of the TRUE 120? NB temp seems high as well. Should I start dropping voltages on some things or maintain those voltages and start upping the CPU clock. Idle temps for the CPU are 42, 39, 32, 35 respectively, and 56 for the NB.

FOR THOSE GETTING RANDOM REBOOTS REGARDLESS OF STABILTY TESTS PROVING SYSTEM TO BE STABLE!!!!

I think I've solved my overclocking problem. It was having 4GB installed. Took 2GB out (2 sticks) and now stable with less vCore and faster clocks

Back to the kinda volts/clocks I got on my Striker but could never get on this Maximus!!!

I guess the Maximus just didn't like the ram as much...?

Lets put it this way, with 4 sticks in I needed 1.525v to Fold 24/7 stable with Dual SMP Clients, but with 2 sticks in I need 1.472v!!!!! This was literally the only change.

Put the other 2GB back in, clock moderately from bios and then use memset to force TRFC to 54, then push the fsb back up with the vcore you are using for 2GB
Got a problem with your OCZ product....?

Can it force TRFC to 54 permanently, without needing to set it each and every time I boot? What is TRFC in relation to using 2GB or 4GB? Will it adversely affect performance? Or can I offset it with other timings? Using SPDTool, can I flash a modified speed to my all 4 sticks and that'll solve the problem too?

What is DRAM Static Read Control?

What should it be set on this board for a good OC? e8400 > 4380 mhx on water

You can check it with everest and memset. Affects substantially memory performance.

new bios files coming soon which will open up TRFC, hold tight while we test.

For now you can mod the spd to 54 on yer dimms and leave it set by auto in bios.

Performance Level is TRD, "read delay" nothing more, nothing less and needs to be referred to as such so we all know what is being talked about IMO

New bios? For the Maximus? So does the 54 setting kill performance at all? In SPDTool there is a small range of 'ns' settings that equals to TRFC of 54, can I pick any of these? I was going to pick the one just before it changes to TRFC 55 instead? Or should I go for the one closer to 53 or somewhere between the two? Sorry for the n00b questions, Tony.

    set 54...its the magic number

remember to correct checksum before you flash

it lowers performance at 800 but allows the dimms to scale up.

    Tony, can you help me?

I've just posted on giga's thread.
Can Maximus + Kents run TRD < 8 at high FSBs? I'm new to X38 boards and have now a GA-X38-DQ6..and TRD = 7 is a no go.
    EDIT: I'm using 475x8 on 4:5 ratio.

This is a characteristic of this chipset? Coz' with P35 I can use TRD = 6 with no problem, and the performance is clearly better.

I'm askin that coz' if Maximus can run with TRD < 8 I'll buy it tomorrow

    Thanks

Hey Tony, nice to see you here on this thread, we could always use someone with your knowledge and expertise.

Erm *cough* is the new bios *cough* as exhaustive as rampage formula's? *cough*

Okay folks, here are my bullet-proof 24/7 bios settings:

Not all ram will do cas4 past 1000, therefore relax timings accordingly.

    I'm actually running 4-4-4-12-3-30-6-3-8-3-5-4-6-4-6.

Edit: Some may need to raise their vcore to achieve this oc (4.3Ghz); you don't have to run at this speed, however, these settings could serve as a guide so you don't push your board unnecessarily.

475 FSB is a no go at about any voltages...

470 FSB worked on my first attempt

You should be able to do 470 FSB with some voltage tweaking...
