    On Maximus Formula still testing...
9x500 with strap 333 PL=8 is very easy PL=7 needs more juice (Disabled 0)
cpu is on air and i have not raised any of CPU PLL = 1.5, FSB Termination Voltage = 1.2 although monitoring reads PLL = 1.6 (overvoltage) FSBT 1.12 (undervoltage because of 8400, with E6750 1.2 in bios resulted 1.21 on monitoring)

Ok, this oc seems stable enough at 32c ambient on water...will test for 4.4Ghz soon.

Went on to test some more with my E8500 and had a nice find.

I was determined to find the cpu's max at reasonable voltage (max 1.6V) so i started off with 1.55V and 9.5x 475= 4500MHz.

From there on i would work my way up with SetFSB but i could not even reach 4.6GHz.

I gave it some more Vcore but again, over 4580 i was greeted by the dreaded BSOD.
I tried more Vdimm and some more voltage options in bios without succes.

Because this was so frustrating i wanted to know how much stability i really had at 4.5GHz.

    Suprise...

I stopped it after 6 minutes because the temps scared the h3ll out of me but if it can run Orthos small ftt's i should easily get 1M done at at least 4.6GHz, no?

So, in a desperate attempt i just booted into windows at 485x 9.5= 4.6GHz and it just booted into windows without trouble.

I could run 1M without a hassle and got somewhere real close to the 10 sec. barrier.

Again i tried to work my way up with SetFSB but after +2MHz FSB it bluescreened again.

Conclusion: SetFSB does not work well with this board/bios/cpu or maybe i should have raised CPUPLL voltage?

To cut a long story short, i booted straight into windows at 4.7GHz and 1.6V.

I even managed to pull off a nice 1M run:

I think it should be able to run some 3D mark at 4.6GHz, but that's something for another day.

Didn't want voltage to be an issue (because of heat) so I upped core voltage a wee bit. After the 13-hour run I went into bios and cut down on a juice and so far looking good. I should be comfortable with those voltages under water, especially since these wolfies seem to handle voltages better than peeps previously thought; or would have you believe.

Seems I got the cpu that was next to Zucker2k's ... Q745A357 so maybe I can also get to 4.5. Vid is 1.0375...

Just started clocking mine, been waiting 1½ weeks for this due to mobo problems. Using ABIT IP35 Pro now and I'm very pleased with it so far. Temps on E8400 is off though like seems to be normal with these, doesn't really change almost anything during idle and load and like 10C temp difference between the cores etc. But heh the air that is pushed from Tuniq Tower 120 is like cold to the touch during Orthos too.

    CPU: E8400
    FPO: Q746A349
    Pack Date: 01/09/08
    VID: 1.0375v

Just testing low volts so far, here's 3.6GHz 1.16v Orthos testing. Love how little vcore these chips needs.

    Next stop 4GHz.

Μine before putting 1.45V@4500 was prime stable 4050@1.3V.
    Now it is not.
I advise all of you not to push them beyond 1.3.

Well i have not got any settings really, just been going about it kinda half arsed so far.
Probably why its not going well

Tried your settings from Dfi club with no luck.
Will read through the dfi thread and look for ideas.

Wow great chip u got there, I needed 1.31v (load) to be orthos stable at 4GHz.

Yeah, and its living up to the hype. I want to get this Wolfdale in a game rig, but I still have to play with it a bit more.

Looks like 4.2ghz is going to about the limit on air. Big bump on the voltage to get another 100mhz out of it for 4.2ghz.

I'm using OCCT like you because its really hammers the CPU harder in a shorter amount of time than Prime.

    A longer run on Prime

And some fun with SuperPi 32M at 4.3ghz. All auto memory untweaked.

I might break out my water gear, but while that might help my temps, its not going to stop the CPU voltage from staggering around like a drunk.

I'm trying to learn more about what is hurting these new E8x00 processors. Can you still run Prime at 4050 MHz and how much voltage do you need now?

What was the highest voltage you ever saw in CPU-Z when testing? Did you ever go over 1.45 volts even briefly?

Part of the problem might be the FSB Termination voltage. The Intel spec for these new CPUs is only 1.1 volts +/- 5% so the max is 1.155v. Some of the older boards can't get down this low even at the lowest bios setting. What is your setting for this?

I mentioned this in another thread but it needs to be said again. Here's what the Intel datasheet says about core voltage:

2.6.1 Absolute Maximum and Minimum Ratings

Table 3 specifies absolute maximum and minimum ratings only and lie outside the functional limits of the processor. Within functional operation limits, functionality and long-term reliability can be expected. At conditions outside functional operation condition limits, but within absolute maximum and minimum ratings,

Intel defines Absolute Maximum core voltage for these new 45nm chips as 1.45 volts. That number is not necessarily a safe 24/7 voltage. At 1.45 volts you are "outside the functional limits of the processor" and "neither functionality nor long-term reliability can be expected."

    PCIe Frequency

Wondering if I need to up my PCIe frequency since I have been prime stable for about 2 weeks at 4280 on my e8400, maximus formula. I have seen others set this to 110 or so. I have it at 100. Is there any difference or reason to have it set to 110??

I think I've found my 24/7 config now. Might up it 1 or 2 FSB still if I can do so without upping voltages but should be around this. Wasn't expecting the board to handle 8x multi at such settings but seems like I underestimated it. Need to find my max clocks on 8800GT too, but I'm easily at 14k+ 3DMark06 24/7 config, maybe even 14.5k.

RPGWiZaRD, that is pretty much my 24/7 too - 4.1ghz at around the same vcore (1.39v)

Any higher seems to require more vcore, and I'm not prepared to go above 1.4v.
