I have some new bioses for you. All bioses have 2d clocks at 300/1125 and 2d voltage at 1,214V. Low power 3d and 3d modes have voltage at 1,33 and frequencies depend on the version you choose. UVD mode is clocked at 775/1125 and has 1,3v voltage.
Also there are two bios versions. One based on the 73 bios with the normal low noise fan settings and one based on the 71 bios with the aggressive fan control for lower temps. 71 is better for those that use the stock cooler. I recommend the newer 73 to those with aftermarket coolers or those who don't like fan noise.
I have named the bios files as "core-mem-bios version.bin". So "775-1125-71.bin" means you have 3d clocks of 775 core 1125 memory and its has more aggressive fan control (based on 71 bios). I recommend to rename the file you want to flash to something like "bios1.bin" as atiflash has problems with long file names.
As always test at your own risk and feedback is welcome.
Here I am again. I experienced some instability with .71 bios (830/1200)
Could you make a version of such bioses with DEFAULT voltage for 2D mode?
Also, I wonder why did you overclock UVD mode. I read in some forums that it might be the cause of instability with such modded bioses.

    Thank you

I did not overclock UVD mode. 775/1125 is the default UVD clocks. Are you sure your cards are stable at 830/1200? The 2d voltage should not be a problem.

I am (was) sure that the default clocks for UVD were 700/1125. I will provide you with more precise infos when i will get home
I will flash again the 73 bios to make sure that there is no problem with the .71 one.

Anyway I am fiddling many times a day on many parameters of my PC so the instability (mainly in 2D) can be something else. Please ignore my post before if anyone else is stable with your bioses.

Everything is stable with your bioses, instalbility was caused by one of the magic settings of my PC
Anyway, I reverted to the official ATI updated bios, fanfix & powerplay fixed.

The odd thing about this bios is that it has a bios version of 0.67 which is the frequency locked version, but is unlocked, has fanfix and has powerplay fix similar to mine. It really doesn't seem very official since there is a new 0.77 version out that still does not have the powerplay fix. But i will make a 0.77 with the fix!

it is "official" meaning it's coming from ATi sources. And in GPUZ, now, my card is recognized as an ATi BBA, as it was when i bought it (almost all the reference come with the "reference" bios.
From where this 0.77 is coming? Which subvendor?

There is also a 0.79 in the air..dunno from where is coming and where to get it.
Anyway, i got more experiences about your bios in an italian forum (forum.hwupgrade.it) from other users, and it seems that the lower voltage in 2D is bringing some instabilities. Like computers crashing while browsing the internet, or watching videos (they have tried with all the other components@default, so no overclock involved)
Could you please make sure that in your next bios(es) you are keeping the default voltage for 2D mode? There are two reasons for it:

    1) the difference in power draw is not noticeable
    2) it can bring instabilities :p

    Thanks

I was speaking about 2D mode, not UVD. Daidalos lowered the voltage for the 2D state

Looking forward to it getting your powerplay fixed version of .77 @ stock clocks. I hope it has the same fanfix levels as their official .73

I don't see why we need that official ATi one... what's the difference?
Not that's it's not welcome or anything... but dare someone explain the diff?

I figure that since you say "powerplay" fixed... it doesn't drop clocks to 2d in 3d mode... but how are the fans doing on this one?

edit: this came out wrong and grumpy.. but i care not to rephrase.

im just gonna stick with the 800/1150-71 Daidalos BIOS... works good for me

Actually, this bios won't fix powerplay, it only have fanfix. There's a later build from the same day but from a later hour that actually fixes powerplay and have 775 2d clocks.
The problem is that this bios is 0.67 version and is locked past 860.
I'm interested in a modded 0.71 (original bios without fanfix) that have 300mhz 2d clocks with default vgpu, and 875 core 1250 memory in low power 3d and high power 3d. Can someone modify this and post it please?

Our german friend has released another version of his bios editor and now you can get at the low power 3d settings.

Hey guys, been following this thread for a while now... Have 2x 3870s in CF and have the same problem - but only in Crysis.

Anyways, I now have 2 3870s that need to be flashed back to a "working" BIOS as I modified one of yours from a couple pages back to have all 3d clocks @ 1.327v I believe. Booted up, flashed the cards successfully, rebooted and got a black screen - so a PCI card is on the way

Anyways, do you guys have a custom BIOS with all 3d clocks? Boot up, 2d and 3d need to be the same, default Mhz are fine.

    Thanks

    NON BBA cards

I just got my Visiontek from Newegg, they showed a BBA card but I received a Visiontek built card. it has the same HSF assembly of the GECUBE OC edition with the heat pipes. The issues I have currently are as follows.

CCC Overdrive, CPU limited to 840 on the slider and RAM is 1170 on both sides and cannot be manipulated as it is greyed out.

Stock clocks accross the board are 800/1170 for 2d and both 3d settings with
only the voltage being slightly lower in 2d and low power 3d

Can someone tell me if it's safe to use one of the modded bios's to regain the full functionality of Overdrive and Powerplay on my card.

    Thanks,
    z

I'd like to mention that this (in bold) is not true. I've made some measurements and difference between 300 MHz@1.24V (default) and 300 MHz@1.0V is vital - about 10W in terms of power draw and as a consequence about 8C (Celsius) in temperature.

Daidalos was lowering the 2D voltage from 1.24 to 1.22, in that case the difference is absolutely not noticeable.
BTW, is your 3870 stable with 300MHz@1.0V?
