nope, the real X48 dq6 looks a bit different:

yup NB is X38
i am liking this new one
roughly same FSB as my DDR2 board
primes my E8500 at 4.4GHz with 1.44vand 61C load with small FFTs
i've also noticed little vcore drop and droop guys w00t![]()
Not much happening on the X38/X48 front i see...holding out for a quad core 45nm CPU and maybe see what P45 brings to the table.

Nothing, X48 is hand picked X38, really.
Been there, seen that, done that![]()
NO
there are some hardware changes and tweaks
well X38 v1.1 has those changes i have
gigabyte increased phases and will seriously improve OCing...including RAM fellas
i am also working with them to have a "special" bios released soon which i'll share if it passes my testing![]()
![]()
yeah true
but at the same time gigabyte is listening...they are making changes we've been asking for![]()
they are releasing extreme boards out of the box. only tricky stuff is in some RAM ratio problems with later bioses but i'm hoping they will do some changes to bioses i liked a lot and some other members after i advised them to try it out![]()

@dinos22
sounds really nice! I think this will be my next board after my P35-DQ6!
Do you know when they release the x48?![]()

Did some tweaking this morning and have now got the system to boot and pass SuperPi32M everytime at 444x9, had to take CPU voltage up to 1.53 to get to stay stable.
Will start some proper tests soon with Orthos and see how it stands up to that.
I'm very impressed with the board so far and this CPU![]()
What would people suggest as the best tool to up the FSB through widows after I boot to this?
![]()
no problem! I think as well that it comes in the next time.![]()
Here in Germany have in the last days more shops list the board....![]()
Good day to you OC's , just a quick question, i would like to change the crazy cool X38 DQ6 system and change it for two Thermalright HR-05 / IFX [ NB + SB ] and the mosfet one for Thermalright HR-09U Mosfet Cooler, they are all compatabile with DQ6 as i noticed on thermalright www site.
But the more importaint question i want to put 4x 2 GB Geil DIMM DDR II 800MHz Black Dragon [ http://www.czechcomputer.cz/product.jsp?artno=46479 ] now im running on 4 x 1 GB Kingstone , but i heard it might have problems with 4x 2 GB Modules ... any thoughts ? Thanks
Can i add, the changelog for the Realtek drivers for the first time in version 1.86 lists the 889A codec as being supported by Vista. The codec has still worked with older driver releases, but the release notes specifically state the 889A codec for the first time.
Does anyone have info on the new Realtek ALC890 codec?...i'm guessing Gigabyte will be migrating to this new codec soon, hopefully...maybe we'll see it in P45 based mobos?

This are the timings set in bios. And they are the SPD timings.
****** Standard Timing Control *******
CAS Latency Time [5]
DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay [5]
DRAM RAS# Precharge [4]
Precharge delay (tRAS) [15]
****** Advanced Timing Control *******
ACT to ACT Delay [3]
Rank Write To READ Delay [3]
Write To Precharge Delay [6]
Refresh to ACT Delay [51]
Read to Precharge Delay [3]
Static tRead Value [7]
Static tRead Phase Adjust [Auto]
Command Rate(CMD) [2]
It's missing tRC, tWR, tRTR, tRTW, tWTR, tWTW
Now look at the timings in Everest and Memset ...
They are totaly different
I didn't set the memo timings to auto, but the mobo sets the majority of them automaticaly. That's not normal.

I'm pretty sure this is the worst board/BIOS I've ever seen now. (X38-DQ6)
Using any BIOS other than the original F3 (including the new F7) causes my system to immediately become unstable to the point where XP and Vista both will not even boot and Memtest throws tons of errors.
I RMAed the RAM, (G.Skill PC800 from newegg), same exact issue. I returned that RAM and got the PC1000 kit - same exact issue.
I'm not overclocking at all - this is absolutely stock settings.
With the F3 bios, everything's perfectly stable - Windows boots, I can run memtest for days without error, games are fine etc. I want to try OCing though and need the later BIOSes for the extra OC stuff in there.
Anyone else seen anything like this? It's the craziest thing I've seen in 10 years of building systems.
Ryan
i need to try F2 (F3), because all bioses since F4 gave me a FSB wall at exactly 467mhz + the 1:2 (4.00) divider dont works with a fsb of 450mhz so i cant fully utilize my cellshocks right now :x
Its either the cpu (qx9650) or the board itself, but i have to try f2 first befor i can finally say its the cpu.
I just can't believe it instantly goes so unstable like that with the later BIOSes @ stock... This was a near $300 board when I bought it, not impressed. Back to Abit or Asus for me next time.
so if everything works perfect with F3 why change
i don't understand it
people are looking for trouble cause a bios is pretty much flawless lol
Yeah it's CRAZY alright, but it's not CRAZY COOL like the box sais.
try swapping your dimm slots as well (I use slots 2 and 4)
increase your Static tRead Value by 1
set ddr2 volts manually
use the D and B memory dividers
F5G is my fav bios rev. (EXTREME setting is stable @1100MHz 333strap)
Here's how I run stable on air.
DDR2 overvoltage is +0.500 not six like in the pic by the way.
