how do you start the PSU which is hooked up to the drives?

do me a favor...disconnect the drives and dvd drives from the board (just unplug the SATA cables)...now, don't power up the 550W supply...just power up the main supply that runs the mobo, cpu and VC...hook some of your fans up to this supply temporarily, for cooling...let us know how that works out.

EDIT:...i presumed you use this type of PSU array in your previous rig with the same VC?...correct?

Theres a problem there. The 650 watt PSU only has PCI Express power leads , a 4 pin and 8 pin 12v power lead and a 24 pin power lead. I have no way of connecting the fans to it.

Yes this setup is exactly the same. I just changed the motherboard and CPU last week.

Yup the 8 pin is connected to the motherboard. The powersupplies wont start seperatly. Their both connected together with a 2 pin connector so that they power up syncronisly.

What is the MAX. FSB people have his with 45nm's?...

Im not stable at anything about 540FSB.

540x7 was stable, but after that, even 550x6 wasnt possible.

So on the motherboard which I received (Rev 1.1), the springs which hold down the heatpipe pads are extremely strong, and the TIM pads are white, not black.

I am happy to report that I did not have to perform the heatpipe mod, and my PWM temperatures hover around 40 deg C. That's good, right?

Yes anything below 40 is good but it is if the pad has good contact on all the pwm`s. Look at the pictures from ace`s bolt mod and mine was the same only about half had good contact and my mobo is only 1 week old and had bios 14 on it. Its not only that but the pads are not as good as paste and sometimes the SB had only some small amounts of paste in one corner of it .
This mod is easy to do and is worth it .

Ok I tried to do that but the 550 watt PSU wont start without the 650 watt PSU turned on. Anyway I got an RMA number for the motherboard so I need to go to my parents house to get the RMA Email printed out.

If i perform johny's vdroop mod I might have little vdroop in windows compared to set bios voltages but then load should be dead on as what I set it in bios right?

No because it wont work that way. Either both PSu's powerup or none of them will power up. im now using my AMD motherboard and CPU with the same hardware. My lan is working perfectly and so is my GPU so its definately the motherboard is broken.

if the resistance is set correctly, you should be spot on with no idle or load vdroop....or...it is barely there.

you miss-understood...i wanted you to use both PSU's...the 550W to run the fans and drives with the drives not attached to the mobo...then, have your 650W power the mobo, cpu and VC.

i guess it doesn't matter any longer since you pulled the board...good luck with the replacement or whatever board you get.

It wasnt worth it anyway ACE. I was trying to get the Ethernet working for 2 days with no success. I didnt want to be trying to fix the motherboard for days on end with no success. I thank you for trying to help though.

One thing I noticed is that even though the quad core was faster in some applications etc this Dual core seems to load things a whole lot faster than the quad core. Also I can OC my ram with this AMD motherboard but I couldnt OC my ram with the Abit IP35 and my internet speeds are a lot faster with this motherboard too. Could I have had a faulty motherboard from the beginning? This is just my view on things.

i understand...good luck with your replacement.

AMD processors have the memory controller on the cpu die...makes a big difference with overclocking the memory

Should 1.41v be enough for 3.4Ghz ? Or do you think i could get away with lower as I see people with 1.45v for 3.6 Ghz.

The sufficient V is that minimal V at which processor passes all necessary tests.

Depends on your CPU, the best way to find out is to test, if it passes lower the voltage a little and repeat
