Have problems with your FSB since the bios 906 and 1002? Me I do not manage to exceed the 460…
What is the GTL voltage? Is it affect stability ? What should it be for 45nm cpu's ?
I tested 1.4v and 1.55v for northbridge
GTL voltage AUTO
With E8500…

GTL voltage should get your cpu more stable with lower Vcore.
It looks like Asus not only messed up with eist, they also forgot to give this setting in bios an actual function.
They just put it there to make it look nice, truth is it's only there because all better P35 boards have this function in their bios.
Is there anyone that got more stability out of this setting on this board with bios 1002?

80c that seems a little hot. What are you using to cool the bad boy down?
Stock Intel HSF?
Have a look at this intel says stay under 72c. http://processorfinder.intel.com/det...px?sSpec=SLAPP
Since this is your daily 24/7 sys
I would suggest upgrading the CPU cooling.

Oookay, looks like the default value of the gtl voltage is changed in bios 1004, i can now run Prime 95 with 1.228V, before i needed 1.304V for 4GHz.
This weekend i will play some with gtl voltage and termination voltage, see if these settings in bios do something now.
So far i like this bios better than 1002, much better.![]()

Post your findingsI'm hoping i can get it stable at 4.3 with less then 1.48v (real).

I've been running my Q6600 G0 @ 3.7GHz 24/7 for many weeks without issue.
I use 4 sticks of 1GB Crucial Ballistix 8500.
As for BIOS, I've run 602 without issue. I'm running 603 now, still no problems.
Might give 1004 a shot next week, we'll see, don't wanna push my luck but I think this quad has more than 3.7 in it ;-)
Good luck, and have fun.

I got mixed reactions to the 1004 BIOS atm, good to loose the vdroop from 0906, but my 1.35V 4ghz OC which was Prime stable with 0906 is not stable at those settings at 1004, I need ~1.4V.
4.2ghz needs about the same voltage though, a little under 1.5..

First, found it on my very first google attempt.![]()
I see there is a link posted already so that one is solved.
Second, i wish i knew. I know for sure it's the cpu because my 8400 read 38ºC on both cores idle but this one has a real messed up temp reading.
I think Intel rushed things to get these cpu's out, i wonder if it's covered under warrenty. It has a 15ºC difference between the cores.![]()

I have about the same setup, but can't get past 3.16GHz, even though the temps are low enough. Care to share your BIOS settings? I'm having a feeling I forgot something...
I was told that this could be because of the cooling paste that is not divided equally. I had this problem when I installed a Scythe Cooler: I put on too much cooling paste. I suggest you remove the cooling paste with alcohol (at least 90%!), and use Arctic Silver cooling paste... but not too much, you still have to be able to see through it. The result: my temps dropped at least 5°, and the difference between the four cores is 4° maximum!
