Default for NB is 1.25v Im using 1.60 for now no problems, however I do
have 80mm fan blowing on the heat sink. It's seems to get pretty hot on
anything over 1.40v. As with anything if your raising the voltage keep
It cool.

No problem I have a 250mm fan blowing on it. Whats considered to high a temp for stability 50c ?

Hi guys,

Could someone measure the distance between the two holes for the mosfet cooler on this board? (P5K-E wifi)
And measure the distance between the other two holes for the other mosfets that don't come with a heatsink?

I'm thinking of buying this board, but need to check this out.

78mm between the 2 holes, both locations are the same measurements
I could not get a 100% accurate measurement since it's mounted in my case.

Hmm, your guess is as good as mine, However asus probe starts sounding alarms after 45c. Mine stays around 40-44c at load with the 1.60v im giving
it. Also I did not have any stability problems at 1.70v even with no fan blowing on it, it just got a bit too hot to the touch for me to be comfortable.

Phase-Locked Loop voltage, it's the voltage of the frequency generator
signal to the CPU. You can raise it to help with stabilizing the FSB when
overclocking. But be carefull not to go to high, I've seen alot of warnings
regarding PLL voltage.

I overclock the cpu 8x500 = 4000mhz but orthos's large fft not stable ,, What is the important point of this board to achieve high fsb's ? like 8x530...

New 1002 BIOS is looking good for P5K-E/WiFi-AP. Finally the same small vdrop as with 602/603.
Ran small FFTs for a few hours with same settings as with 602 and everything solid so far with my Q6600.

That all depends. I would raise the NB, PLL, SB, and FSB term voltage if
your clocking the FSB up that high.

Try setting your FSB strap at 400mhz.

Also try upping your ram timings like 6-6-6-20 just to see if its you ram
holding you back.

And FWIW I've read reviews about the e8200 not getting to 4ghz very
easly, the e8400 is the one to get for price vs overclockablity

fsb term 1.40
NB 1.55-70
SB 1.20

Thanks for the help my ram totally stable 5-5-5-15 1200 mhz 2.1 volts , ram is good , but I use 1:1 now 8x500 4-4-4-12 2.2 volts.... Why can I increase the SB voltage ? Is it affect the stability ?

This 1002 bios not runs my ram with divider,, 0602 bios works my ram divider easily

Ok try bumping you CPU vcore up to say 1.38, watch your temps closely...
If that does not work then your prob. hitting the FSB wall of the e8200.

Also go in smaller steps on the FSB, so if 500 is stable now try 505, then 510, and so on....

I did the touch test as well and there not even hot my north bridge is at 33c even set to 1.55v. I do have a very large side fan and a case with crazy air flow but I don't think they need cooled

The FSB limit is prob from your CPU! Yes CPU's have a FSB wall to.
my e4300 will not go past 350 even if i drop the multi to 7. Like I said
the e8200's are not the overclocking champs like the e8400's I've read many
reviews that back this up, just google it im sure you'll find some. I doubt it's
the board since many others have reached very high FSB with it.

I just flashed it too. Same as 1002 with the C1E/EIST now fixed.
So far so good.

Did a short test....yes, i too can confirm that C1E/EIST is fixed, also Vdroop is around 0.034. My oc seems stable with slightly lesser vcore set in bios, 1.32v now instead of 1.38 before. happy with 1004 for now.

What is your chip and O/C?

I have a Q6600 @ 3465 with 1.30 in bios, shows 1.27 in windows at idle. drops to 1.26 @ load.


Load temps dropped by about 3 to 5 degrees at the same voltage with bios 1004.
I haven`t tried decreasing the cpu voltage yet, but I think it will go even lower @ 3465 and still be 100% prime stable.

So far 1004 seems very stable with a Q6600. The most stable bios to date IMHO.

not sure about that mine does 550 fsb

So does mine, even with stock voltages on NB, SB and other MB voltages, this was with my E6850, my E8400 only reaches 530 FSB.
