Thanks Zeus, I will keep my fingers crossed that you get an exceptional E8500 after your luck with the E8400. Same goes to MrCape and others who were unlucky first time.
It seems odd talking about bad luck when people are hitting well over 4GHz and not being happy, Intel really delivered with 45nmYou can tell the process is good when the standard heatsink is only half the height of the one for 65nm.....
Eventually I got the chip above 4.6 but the stock heatsink (stock off the 65nm X6800 that is) I am using as a temporary one could not really handle it.
Anyhow managed 4500Mhz for 3dmark rock solid at 1.5v.

I will see how it goes with the tuniq on it, I will be happy with this though especially as it will be going on a 780i eventually for SLI and I expect 475 to about the upper limit anyway, if not less.
Regards
Andy
Can anyone share the reported temps on their motherboard if it is showing correctly?
Intel Inside
I just came home only to find a note from mr Postman telling me i just missed him.![]()
Why do these guys always come late except for when you're a little late yourself?
The last time i waited all day long for my EK waterblock when it was delivered at 19:00 on a saturday!
Now i was home at half past 12 and missed him...oh well.
Have to wait another day, let's hope it's worth the wait but from observations i have a feeling that all E8500's do 4GHz stable at below 1.3Vcore.
Another observation is that Q748 and Q750 E8400's are the worst clockers but if the topicstarter could make a nice spreadsheet we can see that in a glimpse.
Anyone already noticed degration of his Wolfdale yet?

Q746A495 I have.
Demon^
I've noticed that Wolfies that require lowish voltages to get stable at 4-4.4ghz don't clock as high as those that need more voltage to get them stable at the same frequency's for some reason.

4.2 Ghz @ 1.34 Prime Load... 15 mins screenshot, completed 1 hour, and I accidently shut it off. Bleh. More than stable enough for me.
Im trying for 4.3-4.5Ghz for 24/7.
My current stable 24/7 is already 4.2Ghz @ 1.34
Watercooled (Specs in Sig), Quad Nozzle still in the Dtek, will change it to the 5mm Nozzle tonight. (Its 7.30pm here :P)
Bad temp's are most due to a bad mount, and surely due to the Quad Nozzle on the Dtek.

are you sure that this is the right vid?
boot up with default settings without EIST / C1E and check it again. CoreTemp read
often wrong VIDs
But nice clock and good voltage![]()
i wait for a better bios to clock higher, my DFI cant do more than 510FSB stable
with wolfdale(with conroe 540FSB with def. NB voltage)

Got Q745A554, Doin 4ghz at 1.25, and 4.2 seems ok with 1.42.
VID 1.0500, E8500.
The board cant handle the FSB it seems, 500 is max boot into windows, 550 can post without problem... BOARD ISSUE!
