i personally dont think that single core is dead yet. this seems to be a decent cpu.

how does this cpu stack up to a celeron 420 clock for clock? would be a nice compare to determine the single core champ.

Both results limited by max. FSB not the cpu itself.

Beside SuperPi i think a A64 with 1024Kb L2 is a bit faster then a Conroe-L. (same clock for sure)

Hmm, the 430 is about 28€ and the LE-1620 about 38€. Think the winner is the Conroe-L here. But i'm bored of intel, and that doesn't matter to me!

Apparently two new LE-1640 chips are on the way this month.

The first is a simple multiplier tweak to the existing 90n 1M chips, giving 2.6gig.

The other will be 65n, 512k, 2.7g. Presumable these will be little more than half a Brisbane (or perhaps a half-dead Brisbane?)

FWIW, I should have time to install my aftermarket cooler and run some proper benching this weekend. I'll be sure to note the chip's week/lot number when I have the heatsink off.

pretty much limited by cooling... at full load the temperature is already 56~57'C with no room air conditioning (it's hot here in Malaysia)

The one was a suicide-shot, the other one SuperPi 1M.

I'm out of the amd game for the moment, can't find the right cpu to break some records with it. Switching to intel again, but i will hold my DFI 790FX-M2R and will wait for maybe some good phenoms in the near future. See ya later AMD!

Edit: The 1640 couldn't boot with 3600MHz. Had no motivation to test more with it, i will sell the thing now.

like fakhrain, i too am from malaysia. although malaysia does manufacture these chips, the price for sale here is a bit too rich for my blood. even getting a decent overclocking mobo here is gonna cost almost half my monthly salary.hehe so just think of me of setting my own poor-man's overclocking platform..and yes, i am newbie at all this overclocking stuff. so all of your feedback and most educational info, i trully appreciate. again, I salute you funflix. all hail funflix!

100% stable at 3384, but no more. 3396 eventually produces Orthos errors. Random reboots begin promptly at 34xx (!)

Arctic Cooling, Freezer 64 Pro cooler. 'Classic' Arctic Silver. 40C after 30min of Orthos. (Ambient is 14C, a rise of 26C. Fan speed seems slowish at 17xx RPM. Bios fan throttling is disabled, but I think I may need a PWM fan controller program.)

Mem and HT not optimized, running well under standard freqs.

Still some nice oc for that "cheap" cpu!

My LE-1620 is running now with the 790FX-M2R in the second system at 3410MHz 1,35V on aircooling without problems. That cpu is really awesome!
