My Rig can do EpicFLOPs, Can yours?
Once this baby hits 88 TeraFLOPs, You're going to see some serious $@#%....
Build XT7 is currently active.

tRD thing was pretty interesting.
Thanks again for your help!
I've tried those things, but Vista wants the extra vCore! I think it's time to reinstall (I did the MS Config four core tweak on my QX6700, and maybe that messed something up). If no joy after that, I think I'll just have to live with 4.23.
Probably will have to go Yorkfield if that's the case!![]()

Do whatever you feel most comfortable with, just be aware that using LLC can cause issues, and it's said moreso on 45nm, as the working voltage range is much smaller than for 65nm core chips. When it's disabled, bios setting should be the max voltage cpu will get, however, when enabled, generally bios setting is almost the MINIMUM it wil lget...so you'll get spikes much higher than what you set, more prevalent on 4-phase boards that 8-phase.
I am getting my new system next week. The specs are in my signature.
So far, I have only had DELL computers, so the world of overclocking is fairly new to me.
I have already done a lot of reading, but I still got a few questions regarding the Maximus Formula's BIOS and I hope this is the right place to ask them!
So, here we go:
1. My goal is to realize a 1:1 divider with the memory. As I have 1000MHz memory, this means the maximum FSB will be 500.
Which FSB Strap to Northbridge should I select? 333 or 400? And why?
2. I don't understand the DRAM Command Rate explanation. Auto, 1T or 2T? Which one should I take and why.
3. Ai Clock Twister, same story as above, is 'Strong' the way to go?
4. Transaction Booster, it says it's one of the most important BIOS setting, but why does nearly everyone on this forum has it got Disabled?
5. Raising the FSB sometimes requires raising the CPU Voltage. This I do understand, but when should I raise the CPU PLL Voltage? Why are their two seperate voltage settings and which should I raise when? Same goes with the FSB Termination Voltage, this really confuses me!
6. Then their are all these other Voltage settings, like NB Voltage, SB Voltage and Clock Over-Charging Voltage, we are talking about rocket science here!![]()
I really hope someone will take the time to answer my questions, it's really appreciated!![]()

Um, that not what I beleive, merely relaying the info. The load transient story is true, I suppose, but there should be components in place that deal with this, namely the capacitors and such on the bottom of the cpu, and in the socket itself.
Of course, it's nigh on impossible to read voltage from this area..voltage is monitored outside this "sphere of influence", IMHO, so the whole story isn't exactly there i think...
SO, ok, you could say the caps in that area have certain limits, and when you breach these limits, problems ensue...ok...I can buy that...But I must wonder where one would get that exact info, and be able to confirm it's truth or falsehood...
Well this is the right place to ask....not sure if I'm the right guy lol
for me the 333 strap is better for bandwidth ( and many may disagree) and I run it when ever possible.
Ai Clock Twister.. I run with it set to strong, after your system is running you can play with all the settings and quickly realize what will do what .
Strong will give better ram bandwidth, medium a little less and light well I think you get the picture.
Transaction Booster is a real pos imo, I run it disabled when ever possible, thats why I like the 333 strap so much.
It basically relaxes timing to you can clock a tad better but unless you fully understand it, its more of a pain then help.
CPU PLL I have had best results on AUTO (monitor it in your bios) when adjusting manually I had a hard time getting my quad core stable, after switching to Auto , stability was quickly achived.
Your NB and SB will have to be adjusted acordingly, my SB as been set at 1.5 and I have never adjusted it, my NB requires only 1.47 for any clock I have tossed at it so far, others can run even lower while I see alot of ppl pumping the volts to there NB. Basically depending on the ram, amount of ram (GB) and OS ( Vista requires more NB volts) you may need less or more NB volts.
My advice is, get your system together and then play around with the settings for a bit and see what does what and how it affects your rig.
After that come here and you will get all the help/advice you need, you wont find any other place with such knowledable and helpful ppl
good luck with you rig![]()
imma post my 4ghz settings when i get home tonight. w000 1.225 vid cpu! *after 7 trips to frys and countless hours waiting in the return line*
Current Status - Testing & Research
It seems that increasing the transbooster relax from 1 to 2 GREATLY increased stability for memory.......testing DDR2-1128 5-5-5-15 in 32M superpi.........stable to 9 minutes so far, when I got rounding errors within 30s at relax 1.
I want to find a good memory setting for high speed on my 2x2Gb kit.....
