thanks sepander yes it seems you've got a golden chip there excellent 3d scores especially for single card and high cpu clock for the 3dmarks most seem to top out at 4650 with higher volts needed, i think the ones with the lower vid value like yours should in general go a bit further than the general ones which i think are 1.125 volt vid, i hope i am as lucky as you with the cpu i get monday

How can you tell what is your Vid!

My box has a 1.225V max number next to the version is that the VID or do I look at the COREtemp program which indicates a 1.100V for the VID

Does anybody have an idea of where the cold bug starts on these CPU's?

    Vid 1.1

Does not seem a great cpu! Can only go about 4.6 but with very high Vcore and my WC setup heats up past 65'ish! Also, Have tried to up the volts to 1.6 and I still cannot reach 4.7G

    I am 4.3G Vcore 1.36 prime stable with 50ish & core1 56 core2 51 temps on load.

Prime stable how long? That's not bad compared to most.

You'll need to get better cooling to run at volts that high, then you can clock higher.

I gots nearly the same E8400:

    FPO/BATCH# Q740A555T
    Version# E27439-001
    Pack Date 12/20/07

I wonder if anybody has a Q739 or earlier, or is Q740 the first run? I normally shop at NCIX, but I got mine last Sat. for $20 cheaper. A-Power exchanged my first E8400 with wonky temp readings for a new one from the exact same batch. Fortunately this one reads 38/36C at idle (4.05 GHz) and about 50C in Prime95.
    Bios:
    vCore: 1.35v
    vDimm: 2.0v
    FSB Term: 1.2v
    CPU PLL: 1.4v
    NorthB: 1.25v

All other voltages on Auto at 450FSB. I had it up to 4.45GHz with no problems, but requires too much voltage and heat for everyday use. Here is my 24/7 setup which is stable and cool. I wonder why my latencies are so slow compared to some others? I've tried upping freq. to over 1300MHz, but still 52ns is best it can do?
