Flashed Gigabyte P35-DS4 from bios F5f to F11 and it doesn't boot anymore

Tried updating bios from F5f to latest F11 due to E8400 needs newer bios. However now it doesn't boot up, the fans spins on max speed and the comp shuts down after a few secs and then turns on again like it would have a cold boot issue. Tried clearing cmos by touching the pins (haven't removed the actual battery yet) with no luck. In CPU supported list it says bios F6 next to E6750 and F11 next to E8400, do you think there's some incompability with my E6750 now with F11 and it might work when I get my E8400?

    Any ideas.

Touching the pins may not fully reset the CMOS.

turn off the PSU, unplug power cables, remove the batt, press the power button once.
Leave it to stand for a few mins,

reconnect everything, replace the batt again and try.

    E6750 should be working fine.

yep or pop out the battery for a few hours, remove one dimm, put the battery back and try to boot then...

Did you follow the flash procedure correctly ? Was there any indication that the flash wasn't completed succesfully ? Hope you didn't flash with the overclock set ?
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

I used default optimized settings, the flashing procedure went fine, but if I remember correctly I also had same issue when updating to bios F5f that I had to clear CMOS so I will try to do a proper CMOS clearing if I can figure out how to get that battery out of the plastic socket without damaging it lol.

Setup a minimum build, minimum components, clear CMOS (15 mins battery out), leave the system off for a few hours and then try starting it.

Push the silver vertical slint on the edge of the plastic battery holding backwards away from the battery and then with something thin, pray the battery from beneath sides upwards. It'll come out just be careful you don't crack that plastic, it's cheap and prone to cracking quick.

Thanks for the info though, I was about to flash it later tonight, luckily I came across the thread at break.

Took out the battery and left it like that for an hour+ and didn't help. Will try with my E8400 today, if it doesn't boot then, I'm going to have to order a new mobo and send in this one for RMA (don't wanna wait 2 weeks+ on RMA). I have ran my E6750 since July/August last year 24/7 at 1.55v (bios setting) 8x469 so that might perhaps give some probs too dunno.

I'm guessing it's either due to my early rev1.0 sample (P35 had just been launched when I ordered) or some hardware incompability or default settings that it doesn't like with this bios.

Doesn't boot with E8400 either so I guess I have to buy a new board then.

I've tried everything I can think of now and getting pissed off as I did everthing correctly as the instructions and yet this has to happen.

First of all, sorry for triple-post.

I think I know what problem I have searching around the net a little. A few others have had same issues as me on their DSx boards. The problem often seems to be corrupted BIOS eventhough you flash it properly, you still seem to run a small risk getting a corrupted BIOS.

I read about a person that sent in the board and they replaced the BIOS chip and it started working again. I've sent an email to Gigabyte to see if they wanna RMA my board but right now I'm still trying to decide if I should buy a new board meanwhile or not as I don't wanna wait too long on the RMA process and I have a hard time choosing which board as I'm unsure how much I should spend as I'm both considering bugdet to highend ~200 EUR motherboards ATM.

So a hint to you Gigabyte owners, don't flash your BIOS more than necessary. I loved my DS4 when it worked (did up to 515 FSB stable with 6x multi with ALL stock volts, didn't try going higher), I'm a bit unsure if I want to have another Gigabyte board though due to their BIOS problems. If they could just get the BIOSES better they'd be my fav no doubt as the boards itself are solid, good performers and stable, it's just the BIOSes that stinks!

    that sucks

i've done lots and lots of flashes on my boards without a hiccup
sometimes i can have up to 10x flashes if i'm testing bios files lol

i always use the same method, same stick (corsair USB Flash ) and fingers crossed it says that way

how will they replace bios when there is no bios chip :S

Yea I used Q-Flash and USB stick as I did last time flashing from F4 to F5f and the procedure went fine but after the restart the no post & on/off powering cycle started.

I used to flash my AMD DFI nF4 SLI-DR board like crazy as well without any problems and I've usually laughed at those warnings "don't flash your bios unless you have a problem" but now I take them a bit more seriously but in this case I would have had to flash anyways...

What board to pick though if I'd get a new one, I'm so clueless. That I have the E8400 sitting at home not being able to use it plain sucks. it's a week 46 cpu btw (don't remember the whole FPO as I'm not at home), so very fresh one.

Oh well I can't decide right now what to do so I'll wait for Monday and hopefully there's a response from Gigabyte too. This weekend sure didn't work out as expected. Here I was looking forward to play around with some 4GHz+ clocks and what did I get, motherboard won't post and computerfree weekend. My luck as usual. >_<

I always use a FDD and never a problem even on this DS4. Flashed 8-9 times in 3 months already.

That VCore is too high for air daily use, expect damage and degradation for sure.

Well I always planned on getting a Penryn, therefore I wasn't afraid using that voltage setting and it has surved it purpose for a half year now so big deal. It showed up as 1.52v idle and 1.5v in Windows, haven't measured with DMM though but my last concern is the E6750 CPU atm, I want the frikking mobo to post!

The E8400 I won't run at same voltage but I think I would dare up to 1.45~1.5v (bios setting) depending on results (I have a bad habit of pushing the chips further the worse they clock )

45nm fails very quick with high voltage. It has lower volt and temp threshold along with the process tech., beware.

EDIT: have you tried the basic failure routine? hitting Del key reptitive whilst holding down Insert key at POST?
