    9800gx2 design looks awfull!
the cards will run really hot... where is all the hot air supposed to go?
its supposed to leave at the top between the two cards?
and once you run quadsli the sli bridge will block a part of the airflow...

and wheres the fresh air supposed to come from?
    that tiny gap?
and again once you run quadsli that gap will be mostly blocked...

I agree the design is kind of off, i would probably wait this one out, looks like another 7950gx2 kind of a deal......more powerful single cards well be out this fall.

Well the 3870x2 beats the 8800GT in SLI in most games (except games where driver issues become a big factor) so the 3870x2 beats the 9800gx2? Oh oh..wait, that's a good thing for AMD/the rest of us in terms of the future!

Do people even read? It was already meantioned:

    2xGeForce GTS-512+nForce 780i SLI
How can you even talk about 9800GX2 performance yet? At least to me it's a big questionmark still.

Looks like a very early prototype/sample.
We don't even know if that is the final design, though I do agree with you it looks like the thermal performance would be pretty poor for a 220-260w TDP.

with that air flow? it'll be lucky to get to 650 core. it makes sense to run them at 550. ocing this card will be very hard and 3rd party coolers will be expensive if not impossible to make.

Hmm.. the PCBs are facing each other, that means voltage regulator chips will be in between two cards, vmodding will be a real PITA

this is only a simulation! they did not use any 9800GX2 in the test, and the tester even lower the clock to 550/1800

I hate that we did that Simulation in the first place. let alone linking to it in a newer news article

They are not realistic, its just a Simulation.

I bet 50 dollars the GX2 will have better clocks then the simulation and a different revision of the G92. Thats why I pay no attention to this simulation.
