no i mean a separate mosfet to give them the voltage they need.. some mobo done use fets on the fan headers (at least in the past) and if the fan was to much for the header it would burn it out..

Sorry if I misread your reply.
I use speedfan now, and my p5k has 4 fan headers. 1 is cpu, so it can only be controlled with a PWM fan, which I don't use. 2 are chassis fans that are controlled together, I can't set 50% to just 1 of them, the speed change affects both. The last is an aux fan that does not seem like it can be controlled at all. On the DFI, can I change each fan individually?

@fireice2: Nice shot Matt! i bet your itching to get that board running

@zfactor: try asking luihed or Praz, they have both boards. will you be running SLI/CF? what proc are you planning to use?

zFactor I will take a quick minute and check for you as I'm knowledgable about what they look like.

There does seem to be some voltage control around each fan header along with some filtering as well (but not 100% sure on that)? Let us know what you think once you get a chance to view it.

I've just checked my mobo, the connectors, the ones i can see, have mosfets near them , though i've seen only 3 or 4, not all 6.

I'm in the same boat mad_skills because my GTX/soundcard/watercooling tubing and cables make it difficult to check each of them out! If I can find a highly detailed picture of the mobo I'll post it or a linky to it.

    zFactor,
Check out THIS members review (I linked to a single post he wrote in his review of this board, his pictures are wonderfully detailed and of high resolution). Plus he has multiple pictures which are closeups very close to the fan headers, well most of them anyway. Let me know if these pictures help or not.

That's easy. Buy both and sell the one you decide to let go. For 24/7 use it really comes down to the CrossFire capability.

now are all 6 fan headers supposed to be speed controlable. or are some just monitored. i do not see a fet for each header from that pic. unless some use one fet for 2 fans...
