What happens if ya use full multies not half ones ? so eg 10 , does it do 0.5 lower for the other 2 cores ? Damn gona wait to buy this board before some of these issues are resolved...pretty stuck here with my maximus that doesn't seem to be able to outperform my old aging P5K Dlx... damn ram dividers
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

In my previous example, CPU N/2 is disabled, so in fact all four cores should be at 10x. It is only after I enable speedstep (EIST) that I get them to all run at 10x.

    Q6600 findings

    Hi Guys,
Been waiting ages to get activated so I can share some finding with the Q6600.
    Ok I have the following:

    P5N-T Deluxe 0502
    Q6600 G0
    2G Corsair Dominator PC-8500 C5
    2 x 8800GTX
    Tagan 800W SLI PSU
    Vista 64

Ok this is some info I've learned about this board, to try and help with some of the probs people are having.
I have found that this motherboard undervolts the CPU (my Q6600 has a VID of 1.235 and if left to auto the board will only supply it with 1.2v) This will allow me to get into windows ok but will randomly lock up, and would cause problems with installing windows like people are having. If this board isnt reading the VID properly and ur chip has a higher VID, say 1.3, then if its only supplying it with 1.2 ur not going to get anywhere fast.
So firstly increase ur Vcore in the bios and leave everything else on auto.
    Second turn off the following:
    CPU Internal Thermal Control
    Limit CPUID Maxval
    Enhanced C1E
    Speedstep

For people who want to overclock I'm currently running @ 3.375 Ghz solid, here are my setting:

    AI Tuning - Manual
    GPU EX - Disabled
    SLI Ready - Disabled
    Linked/Synced 3/2
    FSB - 1500
    Mem - 1000
    Auto Memory timings
    Spead Spectrum - Disabled
    Vcore - 1.3625v
    CPU VTT - Auto
    Mem - Auto
    NB BR04 - Auto
    1.2 HT - 1.3v
    NB - 1.45v
    SB - Auto
    GTLREF - Auto

Using Asus Probe it reads the Vcore as 1.32-1.34v and this is consistent with the bios reading, however, either Everst or CPU-Z reads it @ 1.26v! Either this board has MASSIVE Vdroop or nothing can read the bios poperly.

Stock runs fine as long as u set the Vcore manually....3Ghz wont post....3.2Ghz works but I couldnt get stable.......3.4Ghz is fine with these settings............3.6Ghz wont post.......3.8Ghz posts but wont go into windows. Massive FSB holes i think!

If you want to run RAM at 1000+ make sure you bump up the NB, this was THE limiting factor to get it stable

They really didn't do themselves a favor by releasing a board without a halfway decent bios.

Through their forum, I have been invloved in testing new bios releases, but why should I as a consumer have to do this for a company the size of Asus. I can't believe they don't have at least a few QX9650's in their lab with which to work.

This particular product has been handled very poorley.

I replaced my striker with this board and Vista hard freezes often. Thanks for the tip NuckinFutz77. I'll give it a try this evening. What would be the best cpu for this board? Once my striker comes back from RMA land, I plan on putting my my q6600 back in there and putting a new cpu in this one. Do the E8400, E8500 work well with this board? Lockups? Overclockedness?

Hmm but this applies only to N/2 multi/s with EIST disabled ?
    Because, full/normal multi's are okay.

I start with N/2 disabled, EIST disabled whole multis ok.

Then for no reason, games start crashing. I go back and run cpuz and find cores 0&1 have spontaneously changed from 10 to 10.5 all by themselves!!

I go into bios and enable EIST, and all four cores return to 10...

Go figure. I have no idea what's happening.

Big thanks to NuckinFutz77. I've been trying to just run this board out-the-box and was kind of scared by the intermittent lockups. Increased Vcore to 1.3 and was able to do 5 complete 3dmark06 tests (with and without SLI), and play two games of COD4 all stable.

I guess I will start playing with oc in a few days. I think I will just enjoy stability at close to stock for a while.

No problems javaman! That should be rock solid at 1.3, don't trust Everest or CPU-Z's Vcore readings either they are 0.8-1V low!
Have a go at using my settings, just ajust the ram settings for what u have.
As I mentioned ths board has massive FSB holes so good luck!
On that note, are FSB holes a result of hardware or bios? In other words can it be sorted with a bios update?

    Thanks

Man, not to flame, but im just really happy I bought a eVGA 780i (couldve been a XFX 780i too) I was really looking for a Striker II formula for the longest time ( It seems P5N-T and SIIF have very similar qualities in many many ways, other than some physical changes)- But anyways NCIX is selling the Striker II formula for 340+taxes and a QX9650 for 1160ish+ taxes, I got the eVGA 780i for 275 and the QX9650 for 1105 + taxes because of a combo deal this week!

I gotta say that Asus really needs to bump there Quality control on there high end motherboards, I got the P5K Premium which was a great board, but had some minor glitches. It still was a mature MoBo. then Maximus formula came out and i had nothing but problems with it and it killed 2 sets of Crucial ram for me. Ive heard nothing but medicore results with these boards also.

I pruchased an XFX 780i B4 this board and had nothing but problems with it. Constant bsod's plus hard disk corruption. I just returned it for a refund.

I also have a Maximus Formula SE that runs my quad beautifully. An awesome board, but no SLI. So I'm here, and very stable except for this mutli issue which I'm confident they (Asus) will resolve. I do believe this issue should have been resolved B4 the board was released though.

Maybe I turned to Asus because I had 3 dud EVGA's... all of these boards perform on stock, overclocking is never guaranteed.
I applaud to Asus, MSI and co to go the non reference route... at least they are REAL mobo manufacturers and don't package stuff with their stickers on it... EVGA has got an excellent RMA, STEP UP program...very excellent service

Sadly for all the 680i was hit and miss with all manufacturers... I really hope the 780i is better but again some are having great results, others are still fighting with the PCB... I stay single card for now till a decent bios pops up that allows me to clock the way I want too...

Too bad there's still dud mobo's flaoting around but if you take at the enormous amount of hardware that is flaoting aroung they cannot make sure it runs with all hardware combo's flawlessly... then it would take a half a year or more to release a board ( the DFI way ) in regard of the competition...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

    I guess to each his own;

For me im switching off Asus- It seems every board will have there share of users with bad experiences, but judging from all the forums ive read most people with the P5N-T have been un happy cept for a few users, whereas most of 780i users have been pretty happy with there performance-

The main thing ive seen is the horrid VDROOP that has been caused.

One main thing for any reference board users is - they def need to change the fan on the NB- with a antec spotcool or a 60mm fan. This leads to -15 to -20 C less than the stock fan. from 60-70C to 40-50 C!!

P5N-T and vdroop ? for me p5n-t cpu vrm is much better than one on blitz extreme as my cpu could work stabily at the same frequency at 1.33v instead of 1.45v...

I don't know why but I don't get the multi issue at all with the older bios either.

I don't think I would get 4.6ghz stable on simply air cooling with any othet 780i board, so I'm happy that I got this.

I don't have acces to any other 780i board, because Evga and Xfx haven't heard of Romania yet, so I must do with what I can... It's a new build, and a quad isn't justified (I need high clocks, not multicores), and Asus is a bit shy on the phone... they go like: "that revision... that bios... maybe, it might... we don't know yet..."

don't plan on heavy clocks, maybe a 400fsb...

Hi.. i tried E3110(E8400) on Striker-II it can max FSB about ~490MHz and on P5N-T i'll try again
