Talking E8500 Q740A493T retail chips on Corsair Nautilus water and Single Stage quick tests

    G'Day guys

Here's a couple more Aussie E8500 little battlers in addition to eva2000's thread as they are the same stepping

just a bunch of randon benchmarks to give ya some idea where they're at

    Test Configuration:
    Asus P5E3 DLX DDR3 Motherboard (0903 bios) R.I.P.
Gigabyte X38-DQ6 DDR2 Motherboard (F3 bios) on Single Stage
    2x Intel Core2 Duo E8500 Q740A493T
    2GB DDR3 1800MHz CAS7 Corsair Dominators
    2GB DDR2 1250MHz CAS5 Corsiar Dominators
Single 8800GT PCIe 2.0 512MB Graphics Card (Stock cooler)
    Corsair HX620 Power Supply
Corsair Nautilus 500 Water on CPU
Blackbox C-BuZz SS Rotary on second part of the tests
    80GB SATA Hard Drive
    Windows XP Pro 32bit

here's my first chip in Aussie summer ambients

HAVE A LOOK AT THE SECOND CHIP I BOUGHT >> looks at the vcore

some interesting results on SS Rotary

i took screens of the vcore drop and temps during 3DMARK06 CPU tests at 5050Mhz with 1.58v loaded

SS cooled -43C on evap load -45C idle

absolute best FSB i can get out of SS cooling and 9xmulti

    need that half a multi

    45K efficiency too

just trying to get a chip that can give me the FSB for some 5.7GHz + action
SO FAR NO LUCK FINDING THE RIGHT FSB CHIP
LET ME KNOW IF YOU'VE GOT ONE

I would give someone my E8500 gem chip in exchange for high FSB one >> need 580+ 32M SuperPi air stable chip 20C+ ambient minimum

    Thanks for sharing.

Did the better chip bench 3d stable at 5.2Ghz?

how you get .5 Multi is it the board?

Nice dinos... shame you can't use 9.5x multi

Tried using crystalcpuid's intel speedstep control to change ratio in windows ?

For VID in coretemp it ain't accurate as VID value changes with cpu multiplier used heh

Try it on a Foxconn Mars i got 20MHz more than on my P5K3 Deluxe on the FSB.

funny you should mention Foxconn Mars
T_M is trying to bench an E6750 i had on SS with my gigabyte board past 600 (actual 2D/3D benchmarks) and he only managed a suicide screen on Mars at 578MHz ...that's a good 30-40MHz below this board

so for now no thanks for Foxconn Mars for me
hopefully they have a better X48 board heh

hmm weird, maybe Mars is tunned better for 45nm parts. I have had so many nightmares with Gigabyte i wont ever use them again

    P.D. you can always try

yes you really need to know what bios to use

i've had a lot of experience with them now and i can tell you GB boards lose no respect next to any other top performers

i have the new modded ones but the half multi doesn't stick in windows if i select FSB in bios

i didn't run orthos any longer than the 32M run

it was just quick testing that's all before it moves to SS
but if it fails in an hour or so it's still a remarkable chip that would only need a small bump

when i get a chance i will try to do some more testing on water

Dino... I'd like to speak with you on messenger sometime soon I think

Seems Australia is one of the only places you can get 'em E8500's, and they're at 349 Australian $, thats the price of E8400 in Denmark...

I think I'd like such a CPU if you can pick one up for me

PM me your messenger if possible, catch you in the morning then (+1GMT)

australia has zero stock in all shops now from my conversation with one store this morning

looks like Intel is punishing us for early retail sales or maybe just lack of stock worldwide donno

Same here in Romania... all sold out. I was lucky i found the last one today

Do you remember how much SPI 1M clock you could give it on air? I was wondering how your Q740 compares to my Q745.

Edit: forgot you are stuck at 9x multi...

I wanna see M.beier bench that e8500 he's attempting to buy combined with this fine example of ram overclocking he previously did.

    Thank you trans am

    dinos & Eva
hehe, just FYI 390$ is more then 35 AUD cheaper then what it'll cost in DK

E8400 is about 310 AUD in DK... Horrible HW contry..

But Im probaly gonna buy one, a HW store claim they got them stock today (25th, but its 4AM - just me being up late)

Then I'll just buy one... Eventhough its extraordinary expensive :/
and I just got a.... 1000 AUD ticket... Might even loose my licens... Freaking civil police caught me with about 60% past the limit on the highway

Life's a b1tch, but hey, one kinda gets use to it

    OMG, is that a X48 DQ6 labeled as a X38 board? I bet that ain't a retail board.

If I remember correctly, the first X48 boards used the PCBs of the existing X38 boards, and there were stickers put on them to label them as "X48".
Maybe they developed a new X48 PCB and use it for their X38 boards too, in my opinion it doesn't make sense to produce two PCBs for almost the same chipset, and all functions that are different between X38 and X48 boards depend on the binning of the chipset.

Maybe dinos22 can shed some light on it!
