always use 1+3 unless otherwise statedAlso screenies for cpuz memory tab will show you slot 1 = dimm 1
Zerocool, use stock NB here no probs
---
Thanks Eva... Sorry my noobish question :-)
You are getting a NB average temp of 35oC and mine NB with a 70cm Fan @4200RPM can't get lower then 47oC.
I dunno why my NB is running so hot. I wonder if a NB running hot can affect the Memtest tests:
Copying your BIOS template to mine I can't get pass Memtest #3 or sometimes I get stuck on test #1 2 errors (frozen screen).
I have a Q6600, and the same Ballistix 8500.
Jor3lBR dont forget about the ambient temps, you could be in the tropics and eva could be in antartica.
Also, have you tried a re-mount of the chipset cooler?
rooms temps are 26-30C here in OZ
open desk bench no case though
also read 4th sentence in first post http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=5226
yes heat can effect memtest...
test #1 is chipset related so either higher CPU VTT, NB and/or vdimm might be needed. Also clock fine delays are individual memory module independent - 2 sets of crucials pc2-8500 will have different settings as per my findings at http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=4743

Hey,
Yes but it's really snowing here! Temps are very low this time of the year.
I'll guess I'll try to re-install the sink (do you guys use the fan blowing from or blowing thru the sink)?
I use Arctic MX-2, is this good or should I use the traditional Silver 5?
Another thing, I guess this mobo is RMA material (already ordered a replacement) because it's giving me RAID/SATA problems from start (can'even install Windows): http://csd.dficlub.org/forum/showthr...ed=1#post38296
Thanks!
MX-2 > AS5 but only by 1-3C on average heh

They're not cheap but once in while one will be on eBay for next to nothing.

my spd tables disappeared in cpuz is there any setting thats related to this that i might have changed in the bios or did i break something (they are still in eversest), and the vdimm monitor in everest went too

has anyone tried to flash the bios with winflash? or is everyone using a floppy?
for those of us that dont have floppy what are the options?

if you have a working board you can hot flash a chip of the same type.....sometimes. best way is to find someone to pre flash a bios chip and keep it as back-up. windows is risky, and even a floppy - dos based flash can go wrong.

I got my board yesterday and I'm having some issues with Vnb (NorthBridge voltage):
Vnb set in BIOS -> Vnb BIOS reading
1.265 -> 1.31
1.291 -> 1.56
1.317 -> 1.36
1.330 -> 1.37
1.343 -> 1.61
1.356 -> 1.61
1.367 -> 1.4
1.379 -> 1.42
1.392 -> 1.66
1.444 -> 1.71
1.456 -> 1.71
1.467 -> 1.5V
1.504 -> 1.76
I currently have no dmm, so I cannot check real voltages. Any ideas? Do you see the same kind of overvolting?
First OC seems OK:
I also tried BIOS 12/28 and 12/18 but Vnb issue did not improve. With these BIOS versions I had huge instabilities when T2 Dispatch was enabled, so I'm back to release BIOS.

Sub-timing tolerance is often going to change from one BIOS release to the next. If you are able to run T2 Dispatch enabled with one BIOS version but not another the most likely reason is tighter timings for some of the NB registers that are not user controllable.When pushing the memory most set T2 Dispatch to disabled to improve stability. I set it to enabled when possible but not at the expense of memory speed or other settings that have a bigger impact on performance.
Get a hold of a DMM and measure the NB voltage and then RMA the board.
