Charlie, I'll have a go, but don't hold your breath.
1. Extract the driver files, either run the .exe and cancel installation and then go into the folder it creates on your C:, or right click the .exe and select Extract here (requires Winzip installed).
2. Open up the folder containing the driver, and find and open the C2 and CX .inf files, and replace all instances of 9700 Pro to read RADEON 9800 XT (or the exact name of your card).
3. Open [Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager], and bring up the properties for your Radeon, click the [Driver] tab, and click [Update Driver], then select the option to install from a specified location, and direct the dialog to your folder containing the extracted drivers.
The rest should be self explanatory, just leaving you to install the Control Panel.
If this doesn't work out to be entirely correct, I would just like to say that I'm typing it at work, without a machine I can test the procedure on, so it'll probably be a little off here and there, it should work though, I hope.

I've heard it all, I've seen it all, I've done it all. I just don't remember any of it.
