Hello everyone, if you have ever restored your backup image with True Image 11 on X38 board, please kindly let me know, thank you.

I am using TI 10 with the latest update and not able to restore any backup since upgrading to P5E, TI 10 just can't find any hard drive when booting into Windows Executive envirement, and it's a pity that Acronis didn't want to answer my question directly about X38 compatibility but instruct me to download and try TI 11 .

wow .. only thing i can say is wow .. this motherboard seriously rocks.

with all default settings (auto voltage etc) and memory speed locked around stock speed (due to crap temp. memory) .. i got my 6320 at 425mhz FSB x 7 = 3.0 ghz

got a 18sec superpi 1M with only 1 stick of ram (single channel that is) at 1GB.

that's simply amazing .. consider the possibility of an E8400, some PC8500 ram and serious tweaking ...

let's just say my college testscores won't be high these 2 months

ps... this was all done on a boxed intel cooler

I never did find out what was causing the problem, it seemed the problem fixed itself when I updated the bios to 0502.

My friends i have something to say about bios 502...

    CRAP

The old 107, gives us bad readings, but is very stable.

With this new crap, the Ai suite doesn´t work, the temperature readings are bad to, the stability in OC, is really, really...BAD, and they changed the name to extreme tweaker, please don´t play with us.

I´m not very pleased with this revisions, Asus.

Indeed and if not mistaking normally if you flash the bios with EZflash from
within the bios all settings remain. With 0502 they are all reset to default

When I ran the bios 401 temps were right with all the other temp monitoring software. now with 502 I idle at 7c LOL. Owell maybe soon we will get a good bios.

Is it better to use a 4pin or 8pin for the mobo?

Do you mean the +12 V connector?

If yes, it is better to use a 8 pins but it is not mandatory, unless you overclock a 4 cores processor.

not sure but I think it's done by flashing a newer or or the current version and turning off your pc whilst it's flashing. this will result in corrupt bios which you can restore by booting with the ASUS cd in the drive.

NOTE: I AM NOT SURE .. it's in this thread somewhere

Uh who the hell uses the AI suite? Your kidding right?
So who gives a damn when you update your bios everything goes to default?
Just keeps you familiar with your bios. I bet I can rest all my bios and hit F10 and enter in less than 30 seconds. I love the bios on this board! All these auto OC settings and this drivel about saving you OC profiles and using AI suite this is all just garbage and I do not recommend anyone to use it any of it.
you talk about night and day. Some hate it and I have found it to be the best board I have ever used!
And I find the latest bios to be great.....

I have to agree with you I love 0502 aswell. My OC was rather limited with 0402, but now with 0502 all goes very well And indeed, I don't use Ai Suite either, so I'm not missing it :P
Also before I flash a new bios I always reset my system to default To then find the best settings with the new BIOS
And I really like this board Alot more fun to play with then my P5W DH Deluxe was

    WeldZilla and Skyline GT-R, guys

if you like the 502, try the 107, because it´s the best of them all.

I had the 107, with my 2160 at 3,2ghz(1,39) and the crucial to 1200mhz (2,1v) and with the 502, not heven setting the memos to a 2,3v it was stable, so my precious 107 is realy the very best.

And another problem with the 502, is that the only way to flash to a older bios is to use the crash free, it can´t be done with ezflash or afudos.

Try the 107, and you see
    PD 2160 - 3,2ghz
    100%OC -3,6 (1.6375v) - Aircooling
    GSkill DDR2 2GB-6400 (500mhz)- 5-5-5-15

    Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme
    P5E (107)

Did the flash also wipe out the saved OC profiles or just the settings you had in it at the time?

guys, i have seen the light .. 0107 is the way to go .. was running great with my 504 bios but yesterday i got my new team extreme 8500 ram .. it gave me memtest errors on any speed.

have tried dozens of config / setups .. couldn't get it to memtest correctly (4000+ errors in 10 sec) ...

corrupted my bios and recovered to 107 ... all was good. 1066 CL5, memtest 100% OK .. gaming went great.

It is a shame tough that 107 doesn't clock as good / easily as 504 (for me at least) .. couldn't get it to run on 425x7 (E6320) ... 504 could easily run 425x7 .. guess wil have to tweak a bit more. a shame .. 504 was great on auto voltages.

Well I am having great success with my configuration using bios 502.

I have used bios 107 and agree that it is a good bios. I was very hesitant to leave it behind.

For my system 502 has given my G.Skill 6400 HZ many more options I can run on virtually any divider and run well with 502. I could not on 107.
    I will stick with 502.

That being said if for your particular detup 107 seems to be the perfect bios then by all means run it!! I only feel you should change your bios if YOU are having a particular problem that a new bios addresses. Or you just got to know about the new bios cuz it is there!! And we are all looking for the
    Holy-Grail of the Bios Kingdom.

Hey Godsfist, don't get pissed and smack me but, you seem to have had great luck with your P5K-E. It is hard to argue with success. I really like this board but none the less the choice is yours.

I'm having mem issues with 502 as well. So if I crash an update, what do I need to reflash, or will it just auto roll back to 107?

lowtcell .. yes .. take a newer or current version of your bios (501 -> 502 or 502 -> 502) and flash it with EZFlash in your bios. At about 80% of flashing (not checking or deleting, flashing), kill the power to the mobo. This will cause the motherboard to detect some bios bits but not a valid one. When starting the PC again, you'll get a non-interactive oldskool DOS-style recovery envoriment which will check USB, CD-ROM and "external storage" for a valid recovery BIOS.

Insert your motherboard driver DVD, and it will restore the original bios (107 for me...). Great stuff... altough quite scary .. turning off something whilest flashing it's firmware is not something one would call wise

Haven't had as much success with the silicon, the board will do 500+ FSB no probs but one of the cores on the Wolf runs 10+ degrees hotter than the other one
