    If memory serves (and it may not), the last socket A was actually a Barton labeled as a duron to enable them to clear out the socket A's without confusing people on Athlon 64's. Therefore, since the B Cores were renamed by AMD themselves, the CPU-Z reading is correct. Your chip was officially rebranded by the manufacturer. lol...

    your memory serves you well. It was all just marketing by giving it a new name.

    And beyond that when they were flogging the socket A's to the "poor" parts of the world, they sold all Socket A's as Durons... there were Durons available at speeds we never got in socket A when they were mainstream... anyhow, dead socket, moot point I suppose....

    Cheers

    Thanks for the warning, I'm starting to get more than a little peeved at the fact that as soon as a new version is released the others become redundant. There should at least be a 1-2 day phase out of the older version...

    cpuz.ini

    1.43 has cpuz.ini dated 9/4/2007

    1.42 has cpuz.ini dated 12/23/2007

    1.43 does not report SPD information

    1.42 does report SPD information

    Replace 1.43 cpuz.ini with 1.42 cpuz.ini

    1.43 now reports SPD information

    Problem solved - see post below

    Should that make a difference? It's the same download, isn't it? Surely it should contain the same INI file?

    My cpuz.ini file contains

    Code:
    [CPU-Z]
    TextFontName=
    TextFontSize=14
    TextFontColor=000080
    LabelFontName=
    LabelFontSize=14
    PCI=ON
    MaxPCIBus=256
    DMI=ON
    Sensor=ON
    SMBus=ON
    I don't see what could control whether or not you see the SPD info?

    I see that now - investigating....

    OK, it's an App Launcher (Sidebar Gadget) issue - launching CPUZ from a "normal" shortcut and all is well

    Thank you for your interest
