why on earth would my 'write' score go down when i reduce the latencies or use turbo??

im not sure which setting to use now :/

i just reset to 5 5 5 10 standard to retest and the write is at 3020 now so everest seems to have a slight fluctuation in readings.
hmm everest memory bench isnt really that reliable. Did you have any apps running in the background?

Best thing to do while benching -> disable every unnecessary task in the taskmanger.

each time i hit report on 'write the score fgoes down in succession - i think i need to purge the ram each time perhaps. iot wen down to 2997 and back up to 3033.
    very strange ...

    hi thanks.

I just had everest running. task manager seemed very very quiet just before i started.

christTI just tried your settings with a 5 5 5 10 standard performance

    and

    read 8358
    write 3003
    latency 60.3

im very impressed with the DDR3 on the previous page i thgought ddr3 was not as quick latency wise as ddr2 ( twas the reason i bought ddr2)

that ddr3 is writing twice as quick as mine .....wow ......o.k hes at 4ghz overclock. but still ..amazing readings.

and with 7 7 7 20 the latency readings from everest are lower than my ddr2 5 5 4 9 as well. double wow.

wonder what other people get with the same frequencies i'm running? my OS xp sp2 is running sweet
? maybe its just because he's at 4ghzcpu which didnt prime but hay ..managed to run everest all the same.

    thanks for your help guys

Freqy: It's not the 4ghz, thats just the 10x multi. The 4.00B strap @400 fsb (and various subtimings) is what got me that, and like I said that was totally unstable, though the problem isnt the memory there, I can drop it to 9x and prime all day, so the cpu is whats holding me back a bit, or the bios,or my inept skillz

DDR3 is hideously expensive at the moment, but I do like the how it performs. Oh and the latencies are higher, but the memory overall is moving at a faster rate (mhz)...if DDR3 didn't do at least a little better than ddr2 then they couldnt get the US$400+ they charge for 2 gb BTW, that is the stock timings and speed for my ram, I can get around 1700 (via 425 fsb), but I need to play with some of the timings a bit more to get it 100% stable

I didn't post that shot to brag about the mem, just to show I could get into XP @ 4 Ghz

i just found a copy of everest ultimate this one reads :

    7245 MB/s write speed.
    8807MB/s Read speed
    8002 MB/s copy speed.
    57.1 latency
    1066- 5 5 4 9 cr2 score 23037 cpu queen .
    cpu photoworxx score 38236
    cpu zlib 84326 kb/s
    cpu aes 23851
    fpu julia 24135
    fpu mandel 11626
    fpu sinjulia 17821

5 5 4 9 timings on standard performance. prime stable

seems a allot better . thanks for pointing out that it was a strange reading guys.

least i can sleep a little better now. although i have just drank 3 cups of coffee thinking "no sleep" until i knew what was up . haha i love computers.

    peace.

    hi

i meant the paging file thingy.. 'virtual memory' yeah in performance options in xp...i thought it might have slowed my test down

but all seems o.k now (.im using a 1 month demo of ultimate ediition )

I didnt think you were braging ' isepick ' i think its awesome when people go faster ......for many reasons: one its great for them and two : i look forward to buying a simlar system when i can afford it

(also makes me get more involved as wel.l i have everest woo hoo many thanks for the inspiration hope my memory readings are of help to you.

    peace

he means the virtual memory aka paging file.

And he better has it enabled, i he runs out of memory we will get a nice surprise in form of a crawling system.

anyways good to here that it was just everest, try to find another software that can do the same tests to double/crosscheck. You can use sandra for the most syntetic test, thought the resullts are not directly comparable you see if one program fools you.

Freqy: I know you didnt imply I was bragging, I didnt take it as that I may have been slightly bragging about the 4 ghz part tho . I try to post my observations on things as objectively as possible, although my conclusions may be wrong. For example I did observe a huge voltage jump, but the reason why this happened could have nothing to do with my thoughts on the matter, and it could be anything from the voltage regulator not working right at those voltages to a messed up bios to Everest itself being incorrect, although Everest is the only program I've found to correctly read all the info of my setup (afaik anyway, haven't really tried Sandra yet).

And this place is definitely here to help us learn from each other, I could never have gotten so far with this motherboard were it not for this thread. Now if I could just get this thing stable @ 4ghz...

@ 4 ghz I dont have time for the temps to rise before it freezes/reboots...here's a shot of last night's run. Note that I relaxed the mem timings a bit because I put in another 2gb kit of ram (now have 4x1 gb), prime was stable for 8.5 hours before I stopped it this morning to drop my mem timings down to 7-7-7-20...average temp on the run was 60-63C across all the cores when in the small ffts.

BTW: I hope this shows those of you who don't think you can get 4x1gb to run on this board, that it is possible. Priming @ stock speeds now for my ram, so we shall see if I can get similar timings with 4gb as I do with 2

Here is a good power test consumtion, for Q6600 CPu overclocked beyond 3Ghz, on a Gigabyte mobo and a PC Power & Cooling 750 Watt Quad Silencer

Cooler Master Real Power Pro 1kw RS-A00-EMBA (came with my Stacker 830 case for $300 from Newegg). My only dislike is that it is not modular. Spec sheet for it is here: http://www.coolermaster.com/uploads/...2420648771.pdf

Oh, when I was putting in the other 2gb kit last night I noticed the extra 4 pin molex plug to the motherboard had come off...I dont know if that happened while I was installing the extra mem or before that. May try that 4 ghz again today, just to be sure, because that would defnitely cause some things to not work right at higher speeds.

Priming at 1.5 hours so far at 7-7-7-20 and 4x1gb ram...may shut that down to try the 4 ghz again and run a long prime tonight when I get it dialed in a bit more...

    Spi1M:
    Spi32M:

I use the original Bios(F4) I got when I bought this board, trying the F5j and the F3i without enhancements. The mobo's rev is 1.1

My ram (OCz) chips are Micron D9GTN certified@533Mhz cas7 1,5v

My bad, I thought modular meant where you could choose which plugs actually plug into the power supply, and eliminate unneccessary cables out of the case, and believe me, routing the cables from this octupus is annoying at best

Update on the 4ghz, set bios voltage to 1.7v, actual turned out to be 1.892 (as measured in PC health status in bios), got into xp, started prime, and while it didnt lock up, temps shot straight to 78C, so I shut it down asap...stupid voltage regulators/bios....any bios for me over F4a goes into endless reboot unless I have just 1 stick of ram installed until I get into the bios to adjust...which means I'd have to do that everytime I had a failed overclock, and hope it doesnt decide to continually reboot anyway.

ToyTen: nice fsb...I think you can run the memory at a 1T commmand rate at those speeds without a problem...just a thought...

well your right, modular means exectly what you just have described.

hmm very strange that you board overvolts so strong. Normally most boards undervolt.

    Yeah ~aoe~, he's very happy...

That's modular cable management ... And the +12V schematics it's modular (The PSU has 6x+12V modules). I thought that's what you are reffering to ...

Maybe is because that PSU has 40Amps on +3.3 and +5V ? You're on the other side now have a vraise

I saw many strange things in my life so ... I'm not saying anything because It will bother Hornet331 .
