Received my Galaxy 8800GT yesterday. It is a rev3 which has the long rectangular heatsink
However is it a pretty decent clocker.
Keep it @ 736/1836/1100 24/7. Don't know high it will bench yet.

Are we there yet?
especially in these cards with the smallest bus width (256bit..)

yeah +/- 25 MHz on memory is like 0.1 fps decrease in games on these cards
anyways

What video driver are you fellas using for XP?
Im using vesion 169.28 an rivatuner 2.06 an Overclocking it in Riva has no effect to reverse effect meaning my 3dm06 scorre will drop if I even OC the cards 60mhz. 2X Evga 8800gt 512 in sli on the 780i with the E8400.
Im not new to graphics overclocking this just has me stumped.
Im trying to improve this 3dm06 score but they are being stubborn.

Hey, I'm a noob at overclocking video cards so I was wondering if you guys could help me out with my MSI 8800GT OC with Zalman VF1050 cooler. I'm pretty stable at 700 core, 1750 shader, 975 ram. My temps get up to around 64C in ATI tool. I had a couple questions:
Are there any disadvantages if you don't link clocks between the core and the shader?
How much of a real-world benefit do you get in overclocking the shaders? I'm guessing this depends on the game and I will just have to bench them, unless someone has done an in-depth analysis already for a few games.
Would I get any benefit from increasing my voltage? I know I'll run hotter but 64C doesn't seem that hot. On the other hand, although 64C doesn't seem that hot I'm pretty sure it's heat buildup that prevents me from overclocking further because after about 20 minutes it goes nuts.
I have some RAM sinks I was thinking of sticking on underneath the VF1050 because teh rams are naked. If I drop my RAM to stock clocks, and this allows me to push my core a little further, I'm assuming that I will be able to push the ram AND the core if I stick the RAM sinks on.
Lastly I doubt I can get the card to go much faster than 700 no matter what I do. Am I going to notice a big real world difference between 710 and 700 or even 690? I know you guys are all about the 3dmark scores but I don't really care, all I care about is playin' games. All of the info I've read on anandtech and hardocp tell me that no, the real world benefit will be next to nil. I should probably just drop to 690 for stability and just leave it alone, I think. All the time I spend tooling around, I could probably just work a few extra hours and buy myself another 8800GT.

my XFX 8800gt 512 uses Hynix Chips instead of Qimonda. is this an upgrade or are hynix just as bad as qimonda chips. i read somewhere that qimonda are rated for 1000mhz and dont last at anything over that for a good period of time.
