So with these kind of dualcard thingys, is the perfomance a lot better than an SLI version, if so is it near 100% performance increase to just one card on its own?

Thats the problem. Unlike a processor that can work with 2x4GB/sec (Unidirectional) with HT1 between the cores. Or a shared FSB with some 10GB/sec for everything. Then such a GPU design would need 100 or 200GB/sec.

Same reason we need 2x memory etc today for same or multi PCB SLI/CF.

Its nature and design is just not made for it.

SLI on a card. Just the same as 2 single cards.

From what I digged up. On a old VR-Zone News clip. it said these.

VR-Zone learned that Nvidia is planning a R680 killer with D9E, a dual G92 solution. Basically, it is two G92 cards slapped together like the previously GX2 card. There is no D8E if you are wondering. D9E is expected to launch in February next year to meet head on against R680.
    I thought the G100 = D9E not G92x2 = D9E

it looks like they fixed the main 7950gx2 problem since this time it looks like it has its 2 heat sinks opposing so u have 1 on the front and 1 on the back instead of sandwiching one

and i meant that the r700 will be like an intel quad, i meant it as what were going to see is 2 cores next to each other and not a 2core die, but a cluster is like a cpu core more so than havening 2 gpus

why are they calling this a 9800 using 2 G92? Shouldn't this be a 8800 GX2 or something alone those lines? The naming scheme is confusing. Unless the G92 was actually part of the 9 series in one form or another, LOL

I think the right naming would be like 8900GX2 or 8950GX2 or something. I don't see it fitting in the 9 series group. and If needed to be in the 9 series, 9700GX2

So this is their R680 killer, we will see soon enough
Who has a good theory of why they are calling 2 G92 as part of the 9 series?

30% increase of 40 FPS is 52 FPS (for example) unless I missed something

If you think about it, Thats still a big jump, since we only see +15% avg between A Q6600 and the Q9xxx series.

Support of it from the get go was absolute sh1te, and it never evolved from there...

I think 7950GX2 main issue was it was focused for Quad SLI. One huge disaster.

Its ALOT easier and cheaper just to make 1 big die with a GPU.
    LMAO!

And how did you come to that conclusion?
Also I didn't see anyone declare that R680 was two cores under one IHS, some of us were obviously hoping for it since it would be a nice step towards R700 but I don't recall anyone saying that it WAS that...

It has been said for quite awhile that R700 was multidie...

    So it's either two g92 gts 512's

Could explain the small gain over the ultra.

Either way, I think I will be avoiding this one.
