flashing in dos or windows doesn't change much afaik, what i was saying is that i HAD to reinstall winxp when i upgraded by bios. Apps were crashing/rebooting/bsod. why? not sure. must be ACPI-related or some ...

First, then you are one lucky guy, as many users have experienced more bad flashesw in windows via Asusupdate then with EZ flash from the bios... it's advisable for best succes to flash via dos or the bios ! there's no but there...

And your issue is prolly due to user settings then to a bad flash or bios
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

    Thanks leeghoofd.

Also, ReZ_, If you flash a Bios to a higher grade and your using AHCI sata setup, then yes of course you'll have to reinstall windows sometimes. I think its been talked about before in here.

ahci sata? i just use the intel drivers... in RAID 0

still had to reinstall winxp... was not a big deal... and it's understandable to reinstall OS when modifying basic input output systems....

how did you manage to get SuperPI 1m - 12.109s ?? we seem to have similar setups, but i'm a full second slower than you...

    cheers

I doubt that. Tweak windows = 10% gain?

I'm guessing you are using a 333 strap, what divider are you on? I can't check for myself, won't boot at 333 I'm not sure about the math either. so just tell me!

from the looks of it, i'm running tighter ram, but the divider comes into play i suppose.

I'm not calling you a liar, not at all. I simply want to figure out were i could be losing 10%..... Are you sure you ran that score with your sig's rig?

hm. I don't think i downloaded new drivers for RAID. I guess i used the make RAID boot disc util on the CD that came with the mobo.

if you want me to check for versions numbers, let me know where to look
btw, i'm not running intel's matrix storage driver.

That's funny, because I can't get EZFlash to find my USB drive no matter how I set it up. I have used Asusupdate with no problems so far, except that after updating to 0902 and then 0903 and now 0907 AISuite doesn't run (which I don't really care about, but just curious)

Yeah, well that's why I'm not concerned since I don't use it anyway, but just funny that their software on their BIOS on their board doesn't run

their programmers are all over the place.... This is my second consecutive ASUS board and both run smoother without the asus crap installed. It boggles the mind.

Sounds like you've peaked with load temps like that. Most Q6600s I've seen don't go past 4GHz with your typical water cooling. I can get close to 4.1 but just idling. It's not stable.
