does this board has any vdrop problem?

if you "disable" the vdroop control in the bios and set the bios vcore at minus 0.02 below what you think that you need for the cpu, in whatever loading condition, it will hold the vcore at that level.

ie., i set 1.50v in the bios...in windows, it reads 1.52v for idle conditions...under load, the vcore remains at 1.52v...weird, but it works fine otherwise!

Is this board going to be compatible with the Yorkfields and Wolfdales, with their .5 multipliers?
And why does it seem like everyone is using the multiplier of 8 when benching with a cpu capable of 9 multiplier? I know to get higher fsb, but I was able to do 450x9 with a e6850(was a loaner, waiting for another q6600), which gave me superior scores. My ram that I used wasn't the best so I didn't do to great with a divider without having to loosen timings.

it should but i am not sure if the first release bios will support the point '5' multi's...there is no one with one of those with this board at this forum, i do lieve.

the main reason to raise the FSB to high levels is to get high memory bandwidth, which is not really needed any longer...attaining the highest memory bandwidth is for the days of yester year, IMO....with these new processors with large L2 caches, there is not as great need to attain the high system memory bandwidth in performing your everyday apps...TRUE, benches will see the benefit but you really won't notice it yourself...maybe you save a couple of milli-seconds in completing some work but that is about it...i believe in attaining the highest cpu horespower while sacrificing some memory bandwidth to get the cpu to a higher overclock.

I pulled the trigger on 4 gigs of 6400 ballistix for 50 bucks a pop to replace my (partially dead) dominator, hopefully I can replicate some of the great speeds its been reaching on this board.

as for the subject of fsb, when running the same clocks at different FSB (ie 400x9 = 450x8) i find the my computer runs MUCH faster when using the 450x8 so i really think that there is something to be said for high FSB

intel designed their specs around vdroop so not to spike the processor with above spec voltage...so...DFI, ASUS and other mobo makers got around the vdroop by adding a circuit that cuts it out...most overclockers do not want any droop AT ALL!

When I adjusted voltages, BIOS and SmartGuardian would report 2.03v on everything even though I knew that was wrong. A couple reboots would clear it eventially, but then my FAN RPMs were being detected as 5700+ for 1500RPM fans and 65700 for 3000RPM fans.

Then it died. When I reboot it attempts to post for 1 second, then shuts off and tries again. It doesn't even show a real post code, just a couple lines on the first number led, a dot between the two leds, and nothing in the second led.

Course, this boards been acting funny since the first week I got it. If I could get a response out of MotherboardPro, I'd have a new board by now

I guess I'll have to brave another DFI RMA and hope I don't get back a crushed northbridge.

Now I gotta figure out what I'm going to do with these new Tracers and Stacker 830

Yeah, I know. But I just like to point that incident out since it's going on 3 months that I've been without that board and still waiting for replacement.

Keep in mind it's taken 2 weeks, 3 e-mails, 1 negative Resellerrating review, and 2 negative MBP posts before I got this level of service. Newegg will give you the same service if you do the same to them

Not to say that I'm not grateful for the overnighted board which was sent without a deposit or before they got my board back. I just wish I could have gotten this issues resolved when I contacted them about it 2 weeks ago. And it probably would have been good if I would have known about it before I had someone take the board over to mail it off to DFI RMA....

Oh well. Plenty of people have had good experiences with them and that's great. I just don't happen to be one of them. In any case, this is way off topic and MBP (the user and the site) can contact me via e-mail or PM.

Once I get my RMA from DFI I'll be able to contribute more. But I have a couple questions for the more experienced people on here:

1. For those achieving 450+FSB do you have AHCI disabled? Seems it let me get a higher clock when I turned it off.

2. Maybe it's just my RAM (or the board itself), but I found 4x1GB overclocking much easier than 2x1GB overclocking.

Crossfire with the new 7.12's was very fast with this board at least from my limited testing. Very glad I can clock both cards now in CCC.

1) in scratchin my head here... remind me again what AHCI is? (advance host controller interface?)

2) When I went from 4x1gb corsair to 2 x 1gb my OC became extremely unstable , I ended up having to lower my FSB by 18 and it still isn't that stable, im getting random crashes and video driver errors. Before my 2 sticks died nothing like that was happening...

as I've said before, I have high hopes that my new ram OTW will allow me to take it to the next level. my goal is 468 x 8 and 10000+ ram read on everest. Then I hope we will get a new BIOS and i can proceed to higher clocks and i can proceed to lower volts.

I just read that reveiw , you said " 12/31 no response to e-mail"... but you posted it on sunday the 30th? they were probably closed. and since you got not only a response, but a board shipped today I would say you should fix that.

also from your reveiw you said that you were issued a dfi rma right away but refused it? smooth move why not get it taken care of then?

i think this ordeal is finished...just to give you a little insight on returns...i had to bug clubit.com for my refund...they first said over the phone with me that a credit was issued on 12/16 (it was 12/20 when i called)...i checked with the CC company and they said, NO credit!...finally, i had to send clubit.com an email to ask for a re-submission of the CC credit...they replied back later that day to say the credit was issued as of that day, 12/20...finally got satisfaction but it took a phone call and then an email.

i am VERY disappointed in this board...i am having a ton of problems making the board work with Vista 32 OEM disk...i get constant freezes during setup or in windows desktop...i am figuring this board and bios is trash!...works fine with XP SP2 but forget vista OEM, at least for me!

i've taken it down to basics: one VC, one memory stick, either single or two drives in raid 0 (all the same results), disabled both LAN ports and HD Audio.

who has a vista OEM disk with problems, or no problems...would like to hear your experiences.

the other problem is the 2nd network adapter has disappeared again.

i've bounced between the two bioses with no help...the 2nd bios release works a tiny bit better than the official release with getting into vista desktop...AGAIN...windows XP no problems at all.

this board is going to be history if i can't resolve this issue with the help of you guys.

i have nothing but a ton of problems with this DFI board...i really miss my NO HASSLE Abit IP35 Pro board...same vista OEM disk worked perfectly on the Pro board either in a single drive configuration or Raid 0 with two drives.
