Can't run Orthos for more than a few minutes. E6750 temp too high @ 3.6?

I have the cpu voltage set at 1.49. I figured that would be enough to at least get 3.6Ghz out of this E6750. What about the temps? Temps too high? More voltage?

I think I'm going to need a better fan for the TR 120 extreme. I'm only borrowing the front 120mm antec fan till I can find something better. Pardon the rats nest. I just wanted to get the rig working before I clean house. And yes, the 8800GT/TR HR-03 GT has no fan as of yet.

The temps are fine, really only should start worrying at 60C, and even then it'll still run 70+ is where you need to throttle down.

i5 750 @ 3.2 Ghz, stock volts on stock cooling

temps are fine and average for 1.44v
you also have a G0 but that doesnt mean you can get good clocks.
i think the newest rev's of G0 are puking out where as the early purchasers got jsut killer clockers.

turn up the voltage its either that or your ram is messing it up.

can you run 32m SuperPi ?

try 1.5v and see what it does.
dont forget you could be cpu stable but the chipset voltages are in need of some increasing.

    Yeah what Lestat said.

Could be your ram too. Try 1:1 2T for kicks. Not sure about DDR3 but at least 2.1v to 2.2v for 450fsb DDR2.

Turned up the voltage to 1.5 and so far it's been stable for 2+ hours @ 450x8. Temps are 51/51. But then again it's past midnight and the temp is down in the house.

Ram is fine, voltage is at 2.0. Which is what Corsair recommends for 7-7-7-20/1800.

Gonna let Orthos run till morning. If it's fine in the morning I'll shop around for 2 decent quiet fans so I can take this Antec off the TR120 and then go for 4Ghz later in the week.

Do you think 1.5 is high enough and leave well enough alone?

if you have to run 1.5 just for 3.6ghz you will never hit 4ghz on air
it will take you well over 1.6v for 4ghz

so,, keep dreaming for the 4ghz mark but it wont happen on air.
the U120 is not that good of a cooler. in fact it pretty much sucks.

you also need to check the base of your U120 as many of them are not flat, i have one that has the biggest hump in it i have ever seen.
it wobbles on the cpu its got such a huge hump in it.
its been sitting in its box for atleast 4 months cuz i cant use it the they wont take it back or exchange it

This is the first time I've heard this one.

Either way, at sometime there was a shutdown last night. Don't know when so I'm trying 445x8. I don't expect 4Ghz. I tried to boot it at 500x8 and the bios wouldn't even post. It just restarted twice till the bios set back to all it's defaults.

I had a 6750 and it was a dream to OC..

I'm shocked at the Voltage that you have to use to be stable... I guess I just got lucky.

That was the one thing that I loved so much about it.. It ran Cold.

    Recall your temps by chance?

It's ok though. I plan on burning this cpu into the ground. I only got this cpu till the Q9450 comes out later.

Like I said before. I need a better fan. This one isn't doing much.

Untill I get a better fan, do some cable management, and maybe even lap the heat sink this will do for now:

i'm sorry but pretty much this site and the OC'n world will have to dis-agree with you there dude.
If its not got a flat base and you can't return it then either contact thermalright and explain or LAP it ... like i did.
