What do you do, park on Intel's site and keep pushing the refresh button.

Doesn't seem to be anything earth shaking.

yeah...looking for help......I was wrong. It fixed a strange boot thing I had
where if I did a cold boot it would come on, run for a few seconds, and then
reboot all the way. It stopped doing that!!

    Ok,
I am starting to have a random reboot issue with my current set-up. It has happened 2 or 3 times in the past week. The machine just plain reboots. Funny thing is, I can run games for hours with no problems, but sometimes it occurs when I am just browsing the web or if the machine is idling. No crashes in windows apps either. No blue screens or event viewer info.

As you can see, EIST is running. Do you think this would cause this issue and if I disable it, what tests for stability should I run, and with what settings for that particular test ?

I am also considering backing off on the OC a little. Maybe a little boost on the voltages ?

I wouldn't back off on the OC just yet. It's pretty modest. The first thing I'd check is the vCORE. With it set to "default" both EIST and C1E will mess around with it possibly causing a crash under rapidly fluctuating conditions. I'd set it to 1 notch above whatever the default actually is. This will keep the voltage constant but still let the power saving features lower the multiplier during idle conditions.

Also look at your memory voltage. It's overclocked a good amount so an extra notch in vDIMM might also help. Try the processor first though.

For a test suite, I usually run memtest test 7 for 1 pass just as a first check. You can run test 7 without going through the others by pressing C,1,3,7 once memtest has started. After that, I boot and run prime95 with the Small FFT settings for 30 minutes. This stresses your CPU without stressing the memory much at all. If this fails, then you know it's probably processor related. When that's completed, run "custom" and make sure that the "memory to use" is less than the free memory. If you let it default you'll probably get lots of paging which defeats the purpose of the test. I usually let this run overnight.

Is there any information yet, on whether or not the BadAxe2 will support the new CPUs? If it does, I might be able to resist picking up the DX48BT2 when it comes out....

I have the core voltage @ 1.35 already (I need to update my sig), but Everest reads it as 1.29 to 1.3

tried making an ISO of the memtest, but it seems to hang at :

The sensor chip seems to read low and the BIOS setting is a little high. The real voltage is somewhere in between. Do you see the voltage changing with the multiplier? If it's stable that's good. If it's changing then EIST and C1E are still controlling it.

Make sure you're using version 1.70 of memtest.

The voltage used to change before I upped from default, but now it stays at 1.3V. I put in a new PSU about 2 weeks ago. I wonder if it isn't causing this. Would you think the Prime torture test will show memory problems as well as Memtest ?

I suppose it could the the PSU but it wouldn't be my first guess. If it's the Silverstone in your sig, then I'd suspect it even less. Memtest is a good first test because it only takes a few seconds to boot (when it works. ). Prime95 "blend" is the best there is for testing memory. Like I said earlier though, you may have to use "custom" and tweak the total memory used so you don't swap.

The screw holes are 32mm on center and the opening is 40mm at its widest. I guess that would make it a 40mm fan.

Primed overnight without a peep. I wonder if that PSU puts a huge load on my wall outlet. I put in a 20A dedicated line for my machine a year or so, and have run lot's of different rigs on it with no issues. I hope it's not one of my Raptors going south ?

1200W should be no problem on a 20A branch especially since it's probably not running at full load. Do you have a surge surpressor or UPS?

Do you have them enabled in the bios ? Do you have SP2 installed on your XP ?

I don't mean to ask simple questions, but I'm using Vista. There is another guy on here that put XP64 on and did not seem to have any issues. I know the support (web-google etc.) is vague on this board. I assume you have the chipset drivers installed already ?

XP is SP3 RC1, if that matters, all is enabled in bios.
    Chipset drivers are installed.

    Pretty weird.
Where that LAN chip is at board and Audio? So I can check that they are what they suppose to be.

I think it's pure personal preference. There's not enough history to look at track records. My only suggestion would be to just match your budget and performance goals.
