Rubbish picture but you get the idea
    FSB: 9 * 333 Mhz.
    DDR2: 1000 Mhz @ 5-5-5-15
    Vcore: 1.2875v.
    FSB VTT: 1.25v
    vMCH: 1.3v
    vDIMM: 2.0v.
All other settings are at it's default state.

Thanks for the tips and picture about the fan bro. Get a little idea now. Gonna add a fan soon, before trying higher OCing. It's the PWMs heat that push me back before this.

This is what I'm afraid of.

Glad you've got an idea, it's annoying that we have to mess about finding a solution for the sake of a few pence worth of clips.
We may or may not get the clips that are shown here

But it is worth doing. my 60mm fan is giving me temps similar to jcool as we've mentioned earlier in the thread. See this post for my temps PWM Temps

Ace had it working fine (till it went pop) post 379 & 380, what bios are you using blind_ripper.

Has anyone seen this board under dry ice or LN2 ?
    I'd like to know how the PWM's handle a quad @ 5.8 and 1.94volts.

blind, if you get the multi working, are you going to freeze it anytime soon ?

deanzo if it works for 100% il flash card's with 1.25vgpu bios's and run them @ 900core , cpu will be put under -100°C right away.
i have had it tested with the IP35 PRO but it seems that it's the wurst QX9650 ever , 5.2ghz on LN² with the F1 extreme and 5ghz with cascade on the IP35 PRO .
hope its the board and not the cpu : becaus i could do 1m @ same speed as 3D .

Sorry I can see what you are talking about. I'll try to express myself more thoroughly now...

First I tried to follow your 400*9 template, but Prime failed right away with those settings. So i bumped up my Vcore to 1.4250 and lowered the FSB Frq. to 389 from 400. With these settings, as said in my previous post, one core failed after 1 hour and 80 mins. while the other three went on with no errors for 52 hours.

Okay, back to present time. I'm advices by Supershanks and R*r to bump up my VTT and MCH, but decided to try out 9*400 again since it seem to be a sweetspot for the CPU judging from the countless OC threads here.

So I tried with a higher VTT and MCH to reach 9*400 and this is where we are now

With these settings 2 of the cores fail immidiately:

    ABIT IX38 QuadGT

    OC GURU:

i do not have the board any longer so,i do not know if the bioses beyond 12.B02 work any better with the QX9650...i do know that 12.B03 won't allow for raising the multi on the 9650...it appears that 12.B02 is the one for Penryn's, ATM.

maybe you can experiment with the other bioses to see how they cooperate with the 9650.

    Memset Performance Level

Abit late in the day but Happy New year people

Comparing memset Performance Level Gigabyte DQ6 v Abit IX38 Quad

I've just been playing & would appreciate your input Scope for Improvement?? It's something i found between the gigabyte Dq6 & the Abit. would be interested to see if ny results are repeatable & therefore gives hope that we might expect a better performance bios , should the Bios engineers stumble across it and tighten settings. Alternatively it may prove my results are
    just statistical quirks.

    cheers.
