Lol, I love the poster location. It's too bad it doesn't double as a room temp gauge.

does anyone have a problem with it taking a long time to boot when it say COUNTMEM on the LCD poster? I have have to clear CMOs like every other time I boot. I just updated to 0907 and it still takes a little bit.

By a long time, do you mean 5-10 seconds of post info on screen before going to Intel ROM or loading OS? It does seem a bit long, but it's better than "double/triple boot" like my previous boards, so I can deal.

that's insane. Do you have any bad IDE/USB/SATA devices connected? Maybe it's getting hung up on one of them.....after POST it checks the IDE devices....

I would try disconnecting it from your network for a quck test, I had a similar prob when my tcp/ip settings were set to auto. I had to assign IP's and it boots much faster.

'Twas a usb-midi box that caused this slow boot issue for me...I'd being doing just like has been suggested already..remove all periphrials and then try...if boot is normal, than connect each one, one-by-one, and you'll find the culprit.

    temperature probes

Has anyone used the Opt_fan1~3 connectors with the Opt_temp1~3 temperature probes? If so:
Where did you buy the probes?
Did you get good results worth the effort?

Anyone running 475x8? If so, what voltages? I want to run this 24/7 but I can't seem to get it stable....I haven't worked on it too long though....I'm a but weary of running any higher FSBT because I'm at 1.56V in the BIOS.....
    other voltages:
    NBV 1.65
VCore: 1.5000V (this voltage is stable for 30 minutes in OCCT CPU and RAM at 423x9)
    PLLV: Auto
    VDIMM: 2.18V
Running RAM at 1:1 4-4-4-12 (all timings set manually to SPD data) (tried loosening secondary timings)
    DDR2-950

Yea I tried it with a probe that came with my TT fan (I think) and the results were horribly inaccurate. Either I had a bad sensor or the temp infterface in the BIOS is forked........

If I was in your place I would run 425 x 9, also 3.82ghz and much easier to setup... and I think more durable in the long run... my Q6600 hit's a brick wall at 470-475 need to much voltage to get it stable... I would surely set ya PLL voltage by yourself as the baord really overvolts there, plz verify it asap as it could fry ya PCU
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

I figured that other probes might not work accurately with the Asus monitor. But I can't find anyone that sells the Asus probes. Asus says the probes are optional but doesn't give us a clue where to buy them.

Started OCCT blend test yesterday with 450x8 1200ram settings from SE-board, 1,29VNB(Bios) and 1,38VVFSB and it crashed after 43minutes.
I saw that today morning and just put NB and VFSB to minimum of 1,25V and 1,20V and started OCCT again and wtf, the blend test ran 2hours without an error, then 1hour with slider to ram without an error.
450x8 1200ram with 1,26VNB in everest und 1,22VVFSB in everest runs 2hours stable and same with 1,30VNB everest and 1,42VVFSB everest crashs after 43minutes!? A bit strange but if it will do the tests over night without any errors, I`m happy

Thanks for the link. Have you tried these out on this board? If so, do they work well?

I posted the same question on the Asus support site and got a reply with the following link>

    http://estore.asus.com/shop/item.asp...3718&catid=553

The listing is for the striker extreme but looking at that manual, it appears to be the same as for the Maximus Formula. I think this is for a package of three sensors. Cost is $3.00 and shipping cheapest I think $5.00.
Still haven't heard if anyone has any experience with using these so it's a crap shoot. With New Years around the corner, there's no rush to order.

That's a nice rig you have, I was wondering too about the temp probes, and I feel the ones the other guy mentioned about in the Asus estore sight will probably work. Also I would like to know how you got 3D Mark06 to work. After updating bios to 0907 It won't work and niether will AI Suite, can you or anyone help me?

I'm using them. We've got a metric asston of them at work, IT was giving them away. I'm assuming they're from Strikers or some other Asus board, they came in a 3 pack along with one chipset heatsink fan (same one that ships with the Maximus).

I use Opt 1 external for ambient, Opt 2 floating in the case center, and Opt 3 between the fins of my Accelero coolers.

They're pretty accurate, but they're only marginally useful for controlling fan speeds because the temp steppings in BIOS are so large...24, 32, 40, etc.

If you have QFan tied to a sensor, when it get within 2c of the target temp, it goes full 12v power...~2c below the threshold and it drops to 5v.

For instance, I have a Scythe SFF-F under my case, blowing up on the video cards. It's connected to Opt 3, along with a thermistor. Where I've placed my thermistor is usually about 25c.

If left in Qfan mode and 32c, it runs at 540 RPM, too slow to do much of anything. Set it to 24 and it's 1600 RPM, and therefore too loud. So, all my Opt fans are now set to 70% Ratio instead of QFan.

If Asus let you enter your own exact temp, and then had more granularity over the PWM scale (like they've done on boards in the past, or like Abit does so much better) then they'd be useful for fan control.

I suppose you could use SpeedFan to get finer control, if you can make it work properly with the Maximus sensors. Mine all go crazy and requires a reboot when I try to actually adjust something.

That said, I still like having the thermistors, I use Everest in both my Vista Sidebar and my G15 LCD to keep an eye on temps, even if they don't drive my fans. If nothing else, the Ambient is damned handy.
