Both boards perform on par mate, no need to worry about 1 or 2 more FPS on some boards, 680i seem still a bit stronger in 3dmarks but in gaming they are on par...

Go for the hassle free operation of a P35 or X38 mobo, do NOT invest in the buggy 680i !!!
Also on a note : currently the QX6950 runs on the Striker but it can hardly be overclocked , also Nvidia only officially supports Dual core penryns on the 680i (wolfdales) why would you invest in an aging technology that cannot offer anything more than it has done in the past...

I stick with Intel belongs on Intel, if you go for the Striker and you come back with a thread I'm having issues we will tell you : TOLD YOU SO !!!

AND STOP MAKING NEW THREADS ON IT MATE LOL

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

what are you talking about on par? The maximus is a far superior board, where have you been? Just look at all the voltage control issues the extreme has, some are due to the crappy 680i northbridge, but a lot deal with asus's previous crappy quality. Not to mention, the x38 north bridge will allow you to achieve far better ocs anyways

Go with the maximus unless you need sli, in which case go with a 780i board. I would recommend getting the se (special edition) of the maximus, it has a built in waterblock for the north bridge like the extreme edition does (though not quite as good, it still is nice to have) and is only like $10 more. You'll be a lot happier with the maximus, anyone here that's used one will confirm that

The Maximus is a far far superior board, The ONLY reason you would buy a 680i board would be if your doing SLI. If you doing single card use then the Intel chipsets are way better.

LOL.......superior???? please explain yourself, i have used both boards, and in no way is the x38 superior to the striker extreme, only if you use a 45nm it is................maximus did about 10-30 more fsb.....thats about it, memory did better on the striker, and 3d is stronger on the nvidia chipset......tested both boards with same hardware.
