I guess the lighting in the pic made the mount plate look black. I think it's just chromed.

its not black, thats just the angle. I painted my fuzion bracket white, it works fine.

also, a brand new fuzion I got had well screwed in barbs but they weren't glued. Maybe they were just tight and you thought they were glued...

He said that one of the reasons why Petra's didn't offer the option of 3/8" barbs for the FuZion (at least through the site menu) was that the barbs are a real pain in the ass to get out, and use some sort of threadlocker or glue. I haven't tried getting my FuZion barbs out (if it ain't broke, don't break it?), so I can't tell for sure. But either way, they're in there fairly tight.

And yes, the mounting plate for the FuZion isn't black. The chrome, when under flash, just showed up as dark. The plastic on top, of course, is black.

Sorry about the lack of updates. The camera's batteries were flat, and weren't charged until about 6 pm, so unfortunately you don't have pics of the loop installation. However I'm sure you've all seen enough pics of FuZion waterblocks and naked 8800GTX's with MCW60's that you aren't missing out on too much. Funnily enough, I didn't have to cut down any of the Enzotech Ramsinks in order for them to fit underneath the MCW60 barbs. The Enzotech ramsinks JUST touch the tubing, but it's not putting any pressure on either, so it shouldn't cause any trouble.

Also, while I was waiting, I decided to install the mobo + GPU into the case, so I knew exactly where the waterblocks were going to be, rather than just guesstimating. This means that I'm using a crappy ancient laptop with Ubuntu, and it doesn't seem to like the camera much. Thus, you won't be getting any pics until the leak test is completed (due to be finished tomorrow morning).

So, what's been done since the last update...

Well obviously the loop is installed, and has been running for the past 3-4 hours. Most of the bubbles have bled out of it, and it's looking really good. The Swiftech HyrdX looks really nice, and glows well under UV lights, or even blue LEDs. Tipped the case around a couple of times, and so far doesn't look likethere are any bubbles hiding in the radiator or waterblocks.

Finally finished the mounting brackets for the radiator. They look fairly much identical to the prototype bracket I posted a pic of earlier, except made of 10mm x 3mm aluminum (God Al is so much easier to work with than steel), and sprayed black. It's not 100% perfect (mostly due to how I was making them ), but they look really good, and hold everything securely.

I am now a proud owner of a nice window'ed side panel for my CM 690 case, courtesy of the folks at PC Case Gear. It's about 20cm x 30cm, with two 120mm fan mounts. Would have prefered the kit with a single 120mm fan mount, but they decided to discontinue that right after I ordered, so no luck But this kit still looks very nice. I'm quite happy with it.

Most of the other mods for the case are finished. Being the forgetful idiot that I am, I forgot to drill a hole for the cables off the radiator fans, which I still have to do. That'll be a pain in the ass considering that I have hardware installed now But aside from those one or two holes, everything is finished. Micro-res mounting holes are drilled in, pump will be mounted through the fan grill for the bottom fan, so once leak testing is done, it'll just be a matter of screwing the pump down a bit (with vibration absorbers between everything), and then installing the rest of my hardware. I can't wait I'm really hping that there isn't going to be any problems

Also, where did you get your FuZion from? Mine came from Jab, and had no glue on the barbs, they were just well tightened, but 3/8", not the 1/2". Maybe somebody at Jab's store is breaking free the glue, although I'm not sure why they would bother for 1/2".

All my stuff bar the MCW60 came from Petra's. And like I said earlier, I haven't actually pulled the barbs out of the FuZion, so I can't say if it's glued or not. The glue thing was something that Alex from Petra's mentioned, and I know for sure that the FuZion barbs are in there damn right.

There was a lot of bubbles, and the loop looked pretty crappy. But after an hour, it looked a bit like this:

This gives you a bit of an idea what the loop will look like when it's finished. All it's lit up by is the LEDs off that 120mm fan. Those LEDs are pretty much pointing towards the water loop, which is why it's so bright. When I'm done, there will be a couple more fans, plus some UV cold cathodes.

Now roughly 10 hours later, everything has settled down nicely. The D5 only has a bit of a whine (currently running at setting 5), and the loop is clear as. No bubbles in anything, the res has settled down and only has a slight ripple on the surface to let me know things are running.

No, I have an HR-05 IFX/SLI sitting on there, I had just taken it out 'cause it was getting in my road, plus the way I had it set up before, the heatsink was pressing up against my 8800GTX (with some paper to insulate it). Hopefully by monday or tuesday I'll have a normal HR-05 IFX (as opposed to IFX/SLI) sitting on there, to make it all nice and tidy looking.

Well, it kinda suffered a little bit of brain damage. It seems that during my install, I kinda managed to fry one of my 1 Gb RAM sticks. I think how it happened was: I assembled everything, got all my cables nice and tidy, and then turned it on. Span up for about 1-2 seconds, than turned off again. Pressed power button again, same thing happened. "," I thought, "there's a short somewhere." Looked inside the case to double check my wiring. "... you bloody idiot! There's no RAM!" Yep, that's right, in my excitement, I forgot to install any RAM *ashamed* Installed the ram (lol), booted into windows, ran Prime95 to see what temps were like, which failed after about 5 seconds. This happened a couple of times, and BSOD'ed, too. Took out all bar one RAM stick and it worked fine.

What I think might have happened was when I tried to boot up the comp a couple of times without any RAM, it created a bit of charge in the RAM power circuitry, so when I installed the first stick, it got a nice unhealthy zap. Which means I get to spend 4-6 hours today MemTest'ing each RAM stick to find out which one(s) are duds. Luckily for me, they're only cheap Corsair Value Select 667Mhz stuff, so it's no big loss Just another reason for me to upgrade to a good 2x 2Gb kit.

Anyway, I've got places to go, people to see, things to do, so you're going to have to wait until later today to get some more pics. Plus I haven't finished wiring everything (especially fans) up yet.

If my memory from A+ training isn't failing me, it only takes 35V of static electricity to fry something...and you'd never feel it. I don't know about where you are in Oz, but here in NY, buildings have nothing but dry heat in them and I'm getting zapped all the time...hard.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't actually static charge on me that zapped the RAM (I'm usually pretty careful when handling it), but rather a bit of charge left over in the RAM power circuits on the motherboard. But yes, RAM is annoyingly easy to fry, you usually don't have to put any effort into it most of the time

Dry test? As in just plain H2O, rather than distilled water + HydrX? 1L of HydrX is enough to fill my loop twice over, so if I sprang I leak it'd just be a matter of turning off the pump and draining the loop, and I'd still easily have enough fluid left over. And if nothing went wrong, then I wouldn't have to change anything. Plus UV reactive HydrX is a hell of a lot easier to spot than plain water if it starts leaking
