    Geforce 9600 GT coming soon!

We have got some news from Nvidia about the next gen. mainstream card, the 9600GT.

The first gen. Directx 10 Gpus, the G80,G84 and G86 will have finished their EOL process in February and the production will be stopped.

The 9600GT will be produced in 65nm process and is based on the ''D9P'' Gpu.It's expected to be announced in mid-February.
The card will be clocked at 500mhz/2000mhz (Gpu/Ram),and is expected to have 96 SP units and a 256bit wide memory bus. This mainstream card will have only one SLI connector,so it won't be supporting Triple-SLI.

It is also said that 9600GT will be pin compatible with the current 8800GT,this means the same PCB used with 8800GT can also be used with the 9600GT.This lowers production costs.

The performance of 9600GT will be somewhere between 8800GT and HD 3850.

The high end cards of the Geforce 9 series using the G100 Gpu (9800GTX) are expected to be announced in late March or early April.

I wish they would hurry up with these new cards...

seems to have been forever since I had a reason to upgrade my 8800GTX.
yet theres begining to be a few games out there, I can hardly play...
its definatly time for a new card.

this sounds very close to rumors on the net... where is your source?

also the 9800GTX based on G100 GPU is going to be per rumors either a GX2 style card with 256bit X 2 or a single PCB with 512bit bus again per the rumors.

    So whats your source?

sounds liek GeForce 9 is nothing more than a die shrink and maybe a few more shaders.

    BULLSHIII...

    well we know we're screwed(compaatively).
unless 9800/9900 is 192SPs, 512bit and scales to around 800mhz core with ease.

Not exactly right.Nvidia is talking about ''Second generation Unified Shader architecture''

There will be some architectural improvements in Geforce 9.

That card seems hardly worth it.
It wouldn't be worth it unless it was a $150 card.

It'll be an mid range card.So it'll got ans midrange's card price. It's normal that midrange next gen cards are close to the level of olg gen high range cards

and yet this will be the second generation in a row where the midrange of cards is solidly beat by the previous generations highend cards.

    x1950XT beat the 8600GTS by over 30%
and it's looking liek the 8800GTS will beat the 9600 by over 30% as well.

not the type of scenario where the 7600GT beats the 6800U overall.

look the huge pcb of 8800gt and all the caps and so on.

You really think a mid-range card will be like that ?

Of course it can be, but i doubt it.

The card will be clocked at 500mhz/2000mhz (Gpu/Ram),and is expected to have 96 SP units and a 256bit wide memory bus
    ...
The performance of 9600GT will be somewhere between 8800GT and HD 3850
so either the performance per clock was raised by a enormous amount or this is bull.

    500mhz and 96sp vs 600mhz and 112sp makes the 8800gt like 40% faster. But 8800gt is NOT 40% faster then 3850.

I bet they got it wrong and the card will have 128 bit mem bus, pin compatible with the 8600GT.

So far Nvidia has always thrown the highend models to the market first. Mainstream was always out later, so I have my doubts about this source. Not saying it's completely bs, but things may be different.

One thing is wrong for sure: The memory speed is surely not 2000 MHz, because that would mean DDR4000 The correct value should be 1000 MHz or DDR2000, but not 2000 MHz.

    Yeah,unfortunately you are right.

The 7600GT was a legendary card...

Nvidia is playing a different game this time and will anounce the new gen. midrange card before the highends.

If nothing goes wrong 9600GT will come out in mid-February,but 9800GTX in late March or early April.

But I have my doubts about this source...

I am not sure about the source too. It's not officially coming from Nvidia.

The memory speed should be 1000mhz (DDR2000 effectively),thanks for the correction.

96SP, 256 bit bus, low clocks (happy oc times) and an sli connector on a mid range card.

Finally midrange cards get some features that fit together, these will be fantastic cards but the 9800 will be immense if these are the specs of the mid-mid range.

info update,so sorry for the mistake

Update: SP number changed and PCB/Memory design confirm, sorry for the mistake.

Source also tells some specs of the nex-gen GPU D9P. The core clocks at 500MHz while memory at 2000MHz, GPU will have 64SP (8800GS will be 96SP 192bit 384MB). It is a main-stream product and only have one SLI connector so it can not support 3-Way SLI.

We just confirm that GeForce 9600 GT use P545 PCB design (8800GT use P393 PCB design), and the memory will be 256bit 512MB, still don’t know support DX10.1 or not .
