Yeh this board also killed my 2 Cellshock stick a month ago. The PC just did not post after turning it on in the morning. Been running them at 2.2 volts. The strange thing was that both of the sticks were dead, which left me worried that it likes to kill ram at higher vdimm. Oh and also the board overvolts your ram so 2,2v in bios for example is 2,25v real.

Currently running 4 sticks at 758hz 3-3-3-6 at 2.15 (2.2) real for a few weeks and so far so good. Hope they dont die on me (again) soon.

I decided to skip the new quadcores and just go ahead and buy a Q6600. I just couldn't resist anymore. What BIOS works best for OC'ing the Q6600?

    Hi all

I am upgrading my pc with the Q6700. I wanted to get a new air cooler. At the moment i have a Sythe Ninja. What would be the best Air Cooler to keep this cpu cool while overclocking a little. I had looked at the Tuniq Tower. Are there better Coolers than this? Help appreciated.

    Hi Bichi,

Would you mind sharing your FSB/Multilpier settings for your 3.0 OC? I just got my q6700, and i am running 266x10, but when i first booted, it was running 266x8. With BIOS 2406, i am able to change the Q6700 multiplier between 6 to 10.

    Am i doing this correctly?

    Thanks

    Tom

    Hi all

Over the past few days i ahve been on various forums inquiring about the Q6700 and the Q6600 chips and their compatibility on the P5W DH Delux. A member of overclockers gave this opinion

" 975X can get up to 300 FSB + Quad without too much trouble, but higher than 350 is a challenge. Inbetween 300 - 350 usually doable. You shouldn't have a prob getting 3 Ghz out of a Q6600 but I wouldn't guarantee higher than that. The P5W DH has a lot of BIOS updates though so I'd check out Xtremesystems and other overclocker forums to see if there have been any advances in 975X + Quad overclocking "

Would i be able to get 3ghz or more from a Q6700 on my board seeing as it has a 10X multiplier. Help much appreciated as it will encourage my decision on purchase.

Sorry guys for shameless bumping my post below, but would like to hear you opinions!

    Under Vista x64, I'm always getting 100%.

This makes me think something is wrong with the 4GB of RAM management. Vista x64 can use it all, how much is XP supposed to use? In the system properties, it says 3.0 GB -- shouldn't it be some 3.2GB?

Whitch switches do you have in the boot.ini file? I only have "/noexecute" and "/fastdetect". What is PAE and how it should be used? Ach, anf of course I have RAM remappring feature enabled (so that Vista can see all 4 GB of it); tried to disable and see how it affects XP - no diffeence...

If it's not the memory management, than perhaps some BIOS prob? But is it possible the same BIOS settings are OK for one OS and bad for another?

Any help greatly appreciated - I have to work under XP for some time, as some other apps do not work under Vista x64, and hate to think I'm wasting a lot of time rendering HDV in a non-optimized fashion

OK - I read about PAE and DEP. If I understood correctly, my boot.ini file should have these:

    /noexecute=alwayson /pae

Now the System properties says 3,00 GB, Physical Addess Extension.

However, the system still only sees 3,00 GB of RAM. I tried to add the /3GB switch as well, but at the last stage of Windows XP booting, the ATI CCC crashes the system (BSOD). What's wrong?

I also tried to optimize my page file; first I wanted to check its I/O by adding a counter to the Performance-> Counter logs. However, when trying to choose "Page file" as the performance object, I'm faced with a very strange thing: instead of the many object names list, I have numbers only (interes, like 1150 etc). Something went wrong with my system, or is there a fix for it?

I just put in the Q6600 I had ordered but I the multi doesn't want to change for some reason. I set it to 8 in the BIOS but it's still 9. Why is this happening?

I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to do this. I would even bet that you could do a bit more with that 10X multi.

My DH can do 370 FSB no problem with my QX9650. I think I did 370*10 and 1.3v. The voltage may be able to be lowered if I were at 3.7 ghz with a close to 333 FSB instead, since 333 * 12 is stable at 1.3625v for 4 ghz.

380 * 10 was VERY hard to do even at 1.3875v, and I refused to go higher. A core on prime95 quad would crap out within 5-10 minutes. I forgot if 1.3v froze the system hard or not but I think 1.3v and 1.325v both froze hard.
It goes without saying that 400 * 10 was a no post.

Nothing like this happens at 333 FSB at the same mhz.
I'm not sure why 370 *10 is doable with my Quad on the DH while others can't go above 350, though....but again notice the voltage bump required and that 380 * 10 did not get 100% stable, while 333 * 12 was MORE stable (fully) at less vcore.

If you're trying to get 4GB to show in Win XP/Vista x86, it will NEVER happen.. don't bother trying, just switch to x64

    Hello everybody

I found this amazing thread (and forum) about p5w dh deluxe MB

My system configuration is listed below:
p5w dh deluxe (1602 bios version)
    c2d E6300@1,86 Ghz
    3 GB RAM
    WD 320 GB SATA
    ati radeon x1650 ...etc

I have some problems (like slow boot etc) and questions.
Of course, I'm going to read first post now, it contains most very important information

I want to fix problems and improve performance of my computer.
That is why I need Information and I am sure this is the right place for getting them.

All, this might be an old news, just thought I'd share anyway
Just got reply from ASUS support on my question about QX9650 support:

    ----------- start quote ------------------
    Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry, sir, currently this motherboard does not support this CPU, but we are working to upgrage a new BIOS which can support this CPU, please keep updated from us.

    Sincerely and Merry Christmas,

    Cooper
ASUS Customer Service Center (Shanghai , China)
    -------------------- end quote -------------------------

Take it for what it is worth. These guys are pretty responsive and from my experience (may be I am just lucky) they eventually deliver what they promise. It might take time though :-). My take that it won't happen until Intel releases new 45nm CPUs early next year

I did had a chance to play with 45nm CPU on this board using BIOS 2403. I managed to get it up and running and in general it works as advertised - ~20% or more performance gain vs my old QX6700 (B3), ~30W less power consumption, etc. BIOS is clearly not there though - it required CMOS reset each time it did not like the changes I made in the CPU configuration in the BIOS. In particular, it hated me fiddling with the ratio multiplier.
