The over volting happens on every bios, as far as I know...?
Hey guys Anandtech may have discovered the reason for cpu throttling at high currents in Prime some have described with this board. It may be your processor, not this board. They experienced the same thing with a QX9650.

I needed to bump CPU, NB, and SB all up 1 notch with 0907 to get 1hr OCCT stable. I had to bump the SB because even after it was OCCT stable, I would get lockups in games. Bumped the SB volts 1 notch and all was well.
I am def seeing better numbers in Everest benchmark.
Yes it does, .1 volts. Set for 2.18 get 2.28.

HA. could explain some of my problems on this board that I wasn't seeing on my 680i. I have to run my processor at 1.64+ to get it stable at 3.75ghz. It looks like this board will let me go beyond that, but not stable because of the increased voltage I need. I am having some luck with a 10x multi at 375 right now. Most settings are the same but I bumped the cpu pll voltage to 1.62 and dropped down to the 333 strap.
The 10x multi being most stable on this chip is what I've found with every board I plugged it into. I guess I'm stuck with that for now and I'll have to max the chip out that way.
Also, it seems my temps are substantially lower with the 333 strap. is this possible or am I not noticing an environmental variable or something?
Update: it is definately a strap issue. I ran Orthos stable for 1.5 hours on the 333 strap at 380x10. switched to the 400 strap and blue screen 10 seconds into windows. I'm testing 385 now and things look promising. Now if someone could explain to me what the 333 to 400 strap stability difference is occuring, I might just learn something from this whole ordeal.![]()

I've just "upgraded" from 802 to 907. Found out the hard way that saved settings from 802 don't work in 907. Oh and yea, you can't back flash from 907 to 802. tried everything down to AFUDOS, no luck. Says bios is older version, end of story...
But would someone please please please tell me why I cant get this board to run at 1T command rate???
I'm at fsb = 404, mult=10 transaction booster disabled (0), (only way it will boot), static read control disabled. 4-4-4-10 which is real conservative at these settings. memory passes all memtest86 tests, but cpuz still reads 2T command rate (set to 1T in bios). Setting to 2T or auto in bios gives identical bandwidths in everest and sandra.

But 0907 is a bit slower than 0903 with same settings, isn`t it?
For me it went down from 10k read everest to 9,9k and latency a bit up.
Got my HR-05 IFX SLI and HR-09 S/U Type 2 today and will try out mounting it tomorrow. With hairdrier and OCCT before I want to warm up old heatsink, that must be enough, or?
It does indeed explain how to downgrade.
I'm really begining to like 907 alot, so is my ram.
First of teh 9 series to be stable for me
Grnfinger, have you tested OCCT CPU with lower vCore yet?
Does anyone know of good guides to overclocking for a first timer?
I want to go further then the cpu level up which is just up to 3ghz on bios 903 but also dont want to burn a hole in cpu.
Or does anyone have any settings they would recommend for my system?
Thanks

I have my DDR2 800's @ 1200MHZ @ 2.0V measuring 2.1 in Everest. Should I clock it down or is this okay. I ran prime for 18hours and no crash . Could this be dangerous? 907 FTW !!!

Are these the DIMMs you speak of?

I'm in the market for some RAM that'll run 500fsb no problem.
I prefer the 1066's as this guarantees 500 FSB. But those should be able to do it. I also highly suggest looking into OCZ Reaper series.

1) System fails to post with Dual-Channel mode enabled, I have to remove 1 stick of memory to get it to post (I remove one, It posts, Then I have to power off just right and place that one back in and pray it posts)
2) Abnormal Chipset and memory voltage ripples, Isolated at Chipset or EPU technology (If You don't know about these, Look at my older posts about Abnormal voltages.)
3) Becomes highly unstable at high FSB speeds (Basiclly anything past 1730mhz)
I'm using the new 0907 bios and Just tested all these with my new Antec 1000W power supply, and My Die-Hard 680W power supply. and still get these problems
Hopefully there is a Recall on the Maximus and the replacement motherboard for it is the Rampage :P

Hi all
I got little problem or may be im missing something
My Vcore runs only in Auto mode. If I set Vcore to any figure on manual it just wont boot at all. I flashed bios from retail (402?) to 802 but still have same problem.
