DDR3 is the only stuff that will hold decent timings and pack 2gb per stick. Some of us want to have 4gb in just two slots.

More get ddr2 due to price and little if no difference in performance.
This is like a cheap board recyckling old tech its just a nice upgrade for all those using ddr2 or who want to get the new x48 tech.

Something good coming out from low ram prices

I don't get it why peeps are ing the lack of difference between the Formula and the Rampage, as we knew Intel's X48 are just binned X38's... did you really think they would change the PCB for just a different binned NB chipset ? NOT !
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

alright i still dont get this... what's the different between the x38 chipset and the x48, because I'm trying to decide whether or not to wait for a DFI X48/Foxconn x48 or just get a DFI X38 right now

that's what I figured, especially after how good the Foxconn Mars is. But how long till that comes out, and what's the difference between X48 and X38?

pretty much it can run tighter internal timings in the chipset at the same speed, so pretty much thinking x38 = fsb1333 5-5-5 and x48 = fsb1333 4-4-4, maybe not that dramatic but you get the idea. and it can run faster fsb speeds.

o i see... well i dont think ill be buying any processors that are coming out with 1600FSB for $1000 lol so x38 will do fine for me... if only the Quantum Force group at Foxconn out with X38/48

    This is pwnage.

I have serious doubts if there will be extra features in the bios as PCB and co look pretty alike... prolly just a binned chipset that allows tighter timings at the same speeds...and hope less voltage for the Nb...

....and for the single slot users the P45 is on the way too...

    I like the name
"To exist in this vast universe for a speck of time is the great gift of life. Our tiny sliver of time is our gift of life. It is our only life. The universe will go on, indifferent to our brief existence, but while we are here we touch not just part of that vastness, but also the lives around us. Life is the gift each of us has been given. Each life is our own and no one else's. It is precious beyond all counting. It is the greatest value we have. Cherish it for what it truly is."

I think they should offer a free upgrade from the Maximus to the Rampage, Since from my Exp with the Maximus, it sucks, I seriously thinking about re-installing my P5K Deluxe.

I'm also having a tough time w/ the Max, but it's only because I haven't taken the time to get to know it yet. Besides, Maximus sounds better than Rampage to me. I mean, since the only difference between Asus boards is now the name...

I've had the maximus for almost 2 months now, and I mark it as "FAIL"

for $300 you get garbage ram.
for $400 you get slightly better garbage.
for $500 you can get some great ram.... but only 2 gigs of it.

want 4 gigs? then your looking at $700 to $800 for only ok stuff...

theres just no good mid grade ram/price.
so whoever said "a DDR3 board only, would sell less - they know that" or something like that, they hit the spot dead on.

Keep on accepting such silliness. Then Next year most of these companies will still think that Enthusiast means; "Knuckleheads with more money than brains" LOL! j/k Where in the hell does it end? Now for that much money maybe they and the chipset maker should come up with something that doesn't require so much cooling and is a little more efficient?

The price that I have seen ddr3 being sold right now is "simply criminal".
I think it makes more sense to buy a good set of d9gmh/gkx than to spend $800 for ddr3. It's a lot of money only for a small gain. In the uk you will spend $1200+ for 4gigs of the good stuff.

DDR3 is only for rich boys and fools I think.
