L724B E6850 @ 4013MHz (1,36V at load/superpi due to vdrop), cooler TT BigTyphoon
adata 2*1gb 445MHz CL5 2,0V
no stability ofcourse.
-edit-
went for 1,65V and max Spi frequency I coud get was 4318MHz, http://xs122.xs.to/xs122/07486/11.782_e6850_4318mhz.gif

Intel C2D E8400 @ 4000MHz ~1,192V
Thermaltake Big Typhoon 120
MSI P35 NEO2-FIR (bios v1.8)
ADATA 2*2GB DDR2 800+ EE
ASUS Geforce 8800GT 512MB + Accelero S1
Seasonic S12-600
I've got such a crap chip here...
3.8GHz requires 1.63v and is only stable with Folding or OCCT for about 2 hours.I can run OCCT CPU test and Prime Small FFTs stable with 3600GHz and 1.42v, but even 50MHz higher and 1.55v is still too low for it to cope...
L724A946
CoreTemp read VID = 1.350v
Pack date = 08/27/07
Anyone got any advice? Could it be a REALLY bad IHS, which is why the heat/temps suffer so badly when I go above 3.6GHz? Or just a crummy chip?
Finally got E6850 stable at 4GHZ for 24/7 use. With ~7C lower temps, 5C lower from changing case/rad fans to 1200 rpm yates from 900-1000 rpm nexus (really didnt notice any noise diff), and 2C lower room temps (winter), I can now get orthos stable for 24/7 use. Before had reboot issues after a few hours of orthos when coretemp reached ~75-76C. Now coretemp max is 68C.
1.5V bios, 1.488 real (F7b bios), mch, FSB, and PCIE all at +.1V, and PCIE at 105 mhz, and no PCIE problems.
Below is custom orthos 8-64k ffts (instead of just 8 ffts, orthos needs to be updated to recent prime 95)
Try 8 x 500.

I could bench at 8x500 back when I got the chip, but had the same ?overheat reboot issue (as 9x445) after couple hours of orthos and also pcie issue kicking to 1x. When Nehalem gets close, which means new mobo, may try to get it orthos stable 8x500 and use 24/7 just for learning.
What I would like is better RAM, I have to use 1:1, my corsair does up to ~460 at 4,4,4 12, but wont do much over its rated speed 533 and be stable, regardless of timings, subtimings and voltage up to 2.3. Maybe should have gotten crucial pc 8500 or higher rated since ddr2 is so cheap. But back when I got my ram, I was not even overclocking cpu's, so did not know the tinkering was going to be addicting to the point of spilling into memory.
Regarding Bios F7b, I did not see any difference in overclocking between F7b, F6, F5 or F4. F7b what you set in voltage is closer to what you see in CPUZ, so they adjusted the voltage, but overclocking and Vdroop (~0.008v) was same for my mobo+E6850 on all.
Ok. Thanks for your response.
can anybody post some good clocks at 24/7 voltages on air? thanks![]()
camouflage, what cooling?

And batch?
Just out of curiosity, I took my computer to the garage and opened the doors (5 C outside). Set mch, fsb, pcie all to +.3, and vcore 1.57, and changed ram timings to 5, 5, 5, 18. Just tried 3 runs at those settings.
4500, 9x500 bsod just as windows was finished loading
9x490 booted fine, then froze half way through superpi.
4365 9x485 seemed perfectly stable for benchmarking, ran superpi several times, did not bother with orthos, no doubt it would fail.
Total time spent 15 minutes. Cold temps definitely make things more stable for benching. No way to do that at room temps.

How about this?
Booted at 9 x 500 , watercooled.
And sub 10s with vapochill LS

now your making me wish I had tried higher voltage on the 9x500 attempt, dont know if mine will do that.
The phase is definitely sweet. And you can tinker with that without freezing your a** off outside.
I wish they had a cooling system in between water and phase that was relatively quiet and no condensation issues. Water does not quite do it for me because my high ambients.
Here is my E6750 boot at 4Ghz, and perfectly stable at 3.9Ghz on air.
Cheers!

3.9 stable on air is pretty sweet for E6750.
And your load temps, 58C, are better than mine on water. What is your ambient? (26-27C here, with 29-30C intake since rad internal, I need to do two loops and get my OC ultra out of my cpu loop)

are these temps about right?
got this chip and ip35 pro combo yesterday... no overclocking yet
