Hi Guys
I don't know if it's the right place, but I'm having a really bad experience with GeIL Support and RMA.
Sorry my poor english, I'm from Brazil, and don't write for a long time.
Last march I bought a memory kit from newegg, GeIL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model GX22GB6400PDC, didn't work 3-3-3-8 @ DDR2 800 even with 2.4V. Support ask to send to RMA, but I need to buy other memory to use until RMA return a new memory. So I sent the defective memory on August.
I didn't receive any confirmation for 3 weeks, so I sent an e-mail and Andy reply "only" a week later. "I understand your frustration perfectly but I'm very sorry because the Email Host was giving us issues that were just resolved over the weekend, and now my Support Email Box is flooded with over 1000 mails. But anyhow, I have received your RMA and it is being tested on various mobo's. Currently, I'm waiting for some good Micron chips from Taiwan, hopefully these will arrive soon and I shall replace yours with one of those."
I wait 2 more weeks and ask for news: "I have finished testing your memory and both are throwing off errors.
However, we have not received the good quality Micron chips to make CAS3 so I have no choice but to ask you to bear with me for just a while longer.
How much longer I really can't say right now but you can rest assure that we WILL give you a brand new replacement kit that is in perfect working order @ CAS3. Anyhow, I apologize for the delay as I totally understand your position as a consumer. I will keep you updated". But he never update a thing.
A month later, I sent another e-mail, and: "Mauro, seems like a bad batch of D9GMH. Can't reach 3-3-3-8 or 1066 @ 4-4-4-12 stable. I still got 210 modules to test, will keep you updated".
Two more weeks: "No luck there. I'm currently testing some D9GKX which I just got this morning. If these can pass 128 loops (yes, I have to test them for that long) then I will ship 'em out to you. Sorry about the long wait, I know it is a frustrating and painful process as I've been in the same position before. But I'm doing all I can to make sure you receive back a pair of good performing kit that is what you paid for and stays stable. I should give you an update within 72 hours?"
One more week: "So sorry it really took a while...=(
There is a serious shortage on good Micron D9's. Interesting is, Micron doesn't seem to manufacture their high end D9 DDR2 chips in the US anymore, one obvious reason is to cut costs. Now these are made in Singapore/Malaysia/India/Thailand.... @__@
Anyways, I got some SpecTek5's and they actually matched the D9GMH so I successfully ran them at DDR2-800 CAS 3-3-3-8 -6-42 2T @ 2.35v and passed 87 loops of Memtest86 v3.5 without a single error. These already ran a good 42 hours straight and I just want to be 100% sure, I'd like to run a different version of Memtest which gives simulations in 64-bit environments as well dual-core processes. Tomorrow, Mauro, I'll ship out your memory if the memory stands strong still"
And the last reply: "Please relax Mauro, nobody is messing with you or even trying to cheat you, seriously.
I really do understand where you're coming from but I was hoping that you could understand that this RAM uses a very high quality Micron chip namely the D9GKX which is on a shortage. This model has long been sold out in Asia/Europe/US and we have been trying to locate either the same IC's or something that can achieve the same potential. However, all attempts have failed. Even the ones I told you about that I was personally testing for you, those failed 3-3-3-8 as well. I am not going to send you back something that I know WILL NOT run stable at 3-3-3-8 and so I have no choice but to keep trying until we find the adequate IC's....
Really hope you could understand.....but nevertheless, I am sorry that you have to wait this long...it is frustrating...and I will, ship it back a faster way rather than regular mail, as soon as we have the IC's".
And they never reply any e-mail after that.
So, like I promissed Andy, here is my complain, I bought this product on March, and 9 months later I don't have any conclusive answer form the RMA service.
