Hello boys, I wanted to expose a problem and a doubt that I had with this motherboard... hoping that someone else can help me to solve it.

Problem: my Crucial Ballistix 2*1Gb Pc8500 do not want to start at 1066Mhz ... I tried any strap and there is nothing to do. Bios immature or what?

Doubt: the v-core regulator works by the sum of cpu-vid + % expressed in the bios menu, or I can set the precise voltage that I need... in the meaning that what I set in the bios is something that i get in Windows using cpu-z\smartguardian as voltage reade?

I thank you in advance and sorry for my English.

You have to set the spd manually for that.
If you open CPU-Z under SPD, it will still show as PC2-6400 and will
show that with 2.2v it can reach 533MHz

Its the same case with other boards i have tried that have this EPP stuff
    Nikon User
    Nikon D200 (Gone =( )/D300
    Nikkor 18-105mm(Gone) // Nikkor 50mm 1.8 // Nikkor 55-200VR(Gone)
    Tokina 12-24 // Tamron 90mm //
Manfrotto & Benro Legs // Benro Ballhead.

    Current Lust = 80-200 Or 70-200VR1 <--Pending

No more computer parts for me... Well for now until I
    really REALLY need to upgrade.

Modifications.... adding extra fans around certain areas to help cool it down, means it not a proper daily user has to be made of modifications to run like that.

Spend 1200-1400 plus tax and shipping for just a freaking CPU is nuts, when a lower 300-500 CPU can almost do the same as that 1200-1400 CPU can do.

I want to see Daily Usage here people not MAX OC as if i wanted to see that on this nice DFI mobo i would spend $3000.00 total and LN the damn thing.
Modifying a board is soldering resistors to it to allow greater vCore/Vdimm/CPU PLL limits and droop calibration

Modifying a board is not adding fans, that's the most stupid thing I've read on this forum.

If it ain't watercooled, I don't wanna know.

Regardless of the board when looking for 4.0GHz or higher with 45nm quad-core processors you will have to pony up that $1000.00. The facts are simple. With the added cache 450 FSB and above is going to be hit and miss at best. Play with the big boys and enjoy 4.0+ or spend cheap and stay 3.6 and below. With added cache and lower multipliers Intel has brought back the phrase "you get what you pay for."

Is there still enough space if you put a second Graphics Card in Sli in the second Pcie slot?

$900.00 for the difference in the CPU alone does not constitute a reasonable price for 200-400mhz more of UNSTABLE 100% 24/7 power.

Let alone some crazy ass cooling or backyard modifications.

Like has been said...this is XTREMESYSTEMS...LN2 with 1.9vcore and 3.0vdimm is not unreasonable to most on this site by any stretch, hence the name...if you want 24 hour prime stable blah blah blah there are other websites that preach that, this one does not.

It is time for you to go out and spend your $$$ and do all of the 24hr tests yourself. What is unreasonable to you is perfectly normal to others, get over yourself.

Sure thing, ill get my bios template and exact specs up by later this afternoon, I've got a laptop so it shouldn't be too hard . However I am still tweaking for prime stable, but that seems to be just GTL values and some more NB volts once I get my 80 mm fan on there (been using a 60, not working so well). Other than prime my system is fully stable.

so I lapped every thing! and made a hardmount for my NB heat sink. every chip on the board has been treated with MX-2 and i put extra ramsinks on the CPL chips, more info and pics to come later .

PS: NB is @ 41 now, down from 45, and DEFINITELY needs a new fan. (I also increased nb volts)

PWM is @ 42 now, down from 53 idle and 62 load

    1. A fan on the northbridge, normal considering DFI provide a fan retention clip for that northbridge.

    2. A fan over memory, normal considering all DRAM manufacturers are going over JEDEC voltage limits in STOCK SPD's. How many people on XS are running OXT memory coolers and Dominator fan coolers? Again, this is normal.

    3. Fan over PWM, hardly a modification.

The board hasn't been modified, that board can have the fans removed and sent back to DFI and it would fly through an RMA inspection like a brand new car through an MOT.

I don't extreme bench, I like my set up 24/7 Prime and 3D stable but that's not everyone's cup of tea so I don't question them. It's obvious as to why they do it, it's a hobby and as long as they enjoy it then who am I to question it.

If it ain't watercooled, I don't wanna know.

If this feature continues to work as it has been it will probably find it's way into a future BIOS release. Setting anything other then zero activates it. On a failed overclocked the board will try to boot the number of times selected. If still unsuccessful the board reverts to default settings on the next boot.

So this will reboot with the oc'd settings the number of times before it resets to default?

Sofarfrome, do have this board? If so, what kind of quad performance are you getting?

So far it seems to. It's hard to create every possible failed overclock setting though.

Edit: As a side note 9200 Flex has been running DDR1200 most of the day at 2.19V. May be possible to reduce it a touch more.
