Agreed... it's getting out of control.. yet some people seem to be able to afford it..
It's just a shame more and more users have to bail out simply because the prices of highend stuff skyrocketed....

[QUOTE=JAG87;2626732]Movieman you missed my point my friend. Skulltrail is not the top, its something beyond the top, which will only be available in limited quantity, because fortunately there are only a handful of people stupid enough to buy it.

Answer: = Ever been to a ball game? Ok, this is the front row seat. The average fan couldn't be blackmailed into paying for that seat. Yes, it is limited quantity and only a few can afford to see the game from that vantage point. Oh, and the game lasts what? a few hours? Nice way to spend $5,000.00. Going with your analogy, all those people are stupid for paying for premium. Econ. 101: Premium = Expensive. Get it?

Its one of those elite things that you will pay twice as much as it should cost, and will lose value much faster than anything else.

Answer = I remember when I shelled out $2,400.00 for a P4 2.2 Ghz processor system from Dell. That's just the way things are. As in above.

So my point is that its not the top, its something in its own class, the class of retards with way too much money and way too little brains.

Answer So because you can't afford it, everyone who does is stupid? You probably think the same of the front row seat, don't ya?

Dont take any offense in this, I know you can get a bit defensive about skulltrail (you and your multicore... you should see a psychiatrist), but just pause and think about it. I have no problem with people buying QX chips, or spending 800 dollars on a kit of ram, or buying 2x the latest and greatest video cards, and so on. Those things always have resale value, and dont become expensive paperweights. But Skulltrail is one of those things that will cost you boats of money, and will end up in the gutter just like Quad FX.

Answer Too many contradictions, will pass on this one.

Now how many of you fellas would get a skulltrail if you CAN afford it? See? That's where the whole point to this thing is really. I know if I could afford it, I would be out there bugging someone at Intel to put me on the order list.

Ahh so this is where all the Skulltrail heads are hanging out at. This news is insane! I knew this forum would bring the heat once again. Gotta save up for this one though, and hope it will dominate long enough to be worth it. Must see more results!

IF I could afford it I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Is it a reasonable investment? Probably not.
Is it bleeding edge, makes even my old 55 year old plumbing tingle?

Of course WCG or BOINC, but how does it (regular dualie) compare to PS3 in that regard, is it at least better?
