Power supply I would suggest a Corsair.

I would recommend a Seagate over WD because Seagate has a 5 year warranty and has 32mb cache 500GB hard drives.

Btw, what part of the world are you in? For prices and such.

If it is just for work and dling why do you need a 8800gt?

i5 750 @ 3.2 Ghz, stock volts on stock cooling
    4GB G.Skill DDR3-1600 7-7-7-21
    Gigabyte P55-DS2
    EVGA GTX260 192shader

    good choices.

get an after market cooler for the q6600 so u can OC it as these babies fly when overclocked.

not sure on the mobo both companies are good. id maybe go with the asus mobo. more support and also probably i am biased since i have an asus board and it has been great.

get an aftermarket cooler for the 8800gt. zalman vf900 is a good choice or go with the 256 model because it has an updated cooler(larger fan and updated bios fan settings)

as for psu there are many good choices

i was looking for a new psu also and thought these 2 would be good choices for your price range.

    and

    what about the case?

    i would recommend a cooler master 690.

i have a coolermaster centruion 532. it has been good to me and plenty of room and very professional looking.

Hi, my original plan of a q6600 changed when the box showed up with SL9UM, so I went with an E6750 instead, although I know g0's are easy to find. I decided to wait for the 45nm quads, new chipsets come out/mature, and DDR3 prices to come down to build "the" final system for 2-3 years. Ill keep my power supply, raptor, and pick up a second 8800gts 512 by that time for the "future proofing"

In the meantime my build went:

    C2D E6750 189.00$
    Abit IP35-Pro 179.99$
    G.Skill 2x 2GB 1000MHz DDR2 (PC2-8000 129.99$
    EVGA 8800gts 512 (G92) 359.99$
    Clear Raptor 150 gb 174.99$
PC Power & Cooling 750 silencer (blk) 169.00$
Lite on 20x SATA DVDR 34.99$

all thats left for now is a water block for the new gts

great forum here, plenty of information and user reviews

Id go for the $75 Crucial Ballistix Tracer at Newegg if it was me. Micron D9s FTW.

And for PSU I'd recommend SeaSonic, but that might be out of your range.
