Unusual FSB behavior
I am new to overclocking. This is the first time I haver ever bought hardware with overclocking in mind
So this is what I put together
Gigabyte P35-DS3R Rev 2.1
Intel E2160
2 GB OZA PC 6400
Had it all set up on the table open system and was testing different settings. I was able to get the system up to 3.2Ghz stable and cool using 355 FSB vcore at 1.47 and memory multiplier at a 2.4 ratio giving me a small overclock on the memory
Took it all apart & put everything back together this time inside my case. Reinstalled the OS while playing around with Raid options.
About a week latter I noticed that the system felt a bit slow so I ran CPUZ to see if the overclock was still in place. The system was back at 1.8Ghz.
I quickly ran back to the BIOS to reset the overclock but the bios is set correctly. the system is just ignoring the FSB setting. now I cab set the FSB anywhere from 200 -700 with no affect on the CPU clock in post
What have I missed or done wrong?
Could the move to the case have caused this somehow?
Is it possible one of the component of the broad is damaged ?
Should I be considering the RMA approach?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I can not get a reply form the Gigabyte support
thanks
Jonx
